1 INTRODUCTION
Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging
from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory
Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome
(SARS-CoV). A novel coronavirus (nCoV) is a new strain that has not been
previously identified in humans.
Coronaviruses are zoonotic, meaning they are transmitted between animals and
people. Detailed investigations found that SARS-CoV was transmitted from civet
cats to humans and MERS-CoV from dromedary camels to humans. Several
known coronaviruses are circulating in animals that have not yet infected
humans.
There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However,
as a reminder, Enerflex recommends everyday preventive actions to help
prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including viruses such as cold, flu
and COVID-19.
2 PURPOSE
The purpose of this procedure is to highlight the precautions to be and are been
taking throughout the Enerflex Oman Operations and Office. Also, to limit
exposure to personnel and maintain operations due to the ongoing situation with
the new Corona Virus (COVID-19).
3 SCOPE
7 PREVENTATIVE MEASURES
The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. However,
as a reminder, Enerflex recommends everyday preventive actions to help
prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including viruses such as cold, flu
and COVID-19.
Stay aware of the latest information on the COVID-19 outbreak, available on the
WHO website and through your national and local public health authority
(Oman MOH).
Take care of your health and protect others by doing the following:
1. Wash Your Hands Frequently
• Regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand
rub or wash them with soap and water
• Why? Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based
hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands
• Face masks or Dust masks should only be worn by personnel who are
ill or attending to a person who is ill.
5. If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early
• Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough and difficulty
breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance. Follow the
directions of your local health authority.
• Why? National and local authorities will have the most up to date
information on the situation in your area. Calling in advance will allow
your health care provider to quickly direct you to the right health facility.
This will also protect you and help prevent spread of viruses and other
infections.
