Objectives:
1. Identify the meaning of social sciences and applied social sciences.
2. Differentiate Social Sciences from Applied Social Sciences

I. SUBJECT MATTER
TOPIC: Introduction to the Disciplines of Applied Social Sciences
Number of days: 4 days
MATERIALS:

Lesson 1 pages: 1-8; Rex Bookstore, Discipline and Ideas in the Applied Social
Sciences.

Laptop, projector,speaker, handouts, strips of papers, cartolina.

II. PROCEDURE
1. Preliminary routine
a. Prayer
b. Greetings
c. Checking of attendance
2. Motivation
-What comes into your mind when you hear or read the “discipline of applied social
sciences.”?
Group Activity:SCRAMBLED LETTERS
The students will be tasked to arrange the letters to find the targeted words given
to each group.
Group 1: ANTHROPOLOGY
Group 2: PSYCHOLOGY
Group 3: SOCIOLOGY
Group 4: GEOGRAPHY
3. Presentation
--Each of the group will have a representative that will give an initial knowledge about
the words that they were able to form and give some explanations.
4. Discussion
The teacher will present the lesson through Power Point Presentation and the
students will give their own perceptions and explanations. The whole lesson will be a
guided discussion.
Process questions:
1. What is the definition of social sciences? Applied social sciences?
2. What are the disciplines of Social Sciences?
3. what is the relationship between social science and applied social sciences?
4. What are the functions and effects of Applied social sciences?

--Why Applied Social science an avenue for addressing different social issues?
--Why social sciences and Applied Social sciences important to the society.
6. Application
--Using a T-chart, ,make a list of social sciences and another list for applied social
sciences.

_1. These are the disciplines concerned with the systematic study of social phenomena, at it deals
with the institutions, the functioning of human society, and with the interpersonal relationships of
individuals as members of society.
