Blending Drill Activity: (1 - 2 minutes)

● Focus on the newest phonemes introduced.

● Do not use more than 3 skills.
● Can be used to reinforce syllable types closed, open, and magic e.

Procedure:
1. Create index cards with individual phonemes.
2. Sort cards in 3 piles-
● beginning consonants or beginning blends
● vowels and vowel teams
● ending consonants and ending blends
3. Show 3 cards: beginning, middle, and end
4. Flip one card at a time to allow students to blend nonsense words.
5. Change one card at a time: beginning, middle and ending
