Two-winding transformers allow power transfer between two transmission networks or a
transmission network and a sub-transmission network while the two networks remain electrically isolated from each other. Autotransformers perform the same function except that they do not electrically isolate the two networks from each other. Autotransformers are less expensive than multi-winding transformers at transmission network voltages and are, therefore, used more frequently in power systems. Erro!
