Subject : SITREP # 5: TROPICAL STORM “MARING” as of 8:00AM

I. GENERAL SITUATION

MARING has strengthened into a Tropical Storm (TS) while moving westward across the warm waters of the
West Philippine Sea, away from Luzon. Its growing rainbands is affecting the coastal areas of Northern Palawan,
Calamian Group of Islands and Western Zambales.

As of 4:00 AM today, the center of Tropical Storm “ Maring” was estimated based on all available data at 270 km
West of Iba, Zambales with maximum sustained winds of 75 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 90
km/h. It is forecast to move West Northwest at 15 km/h.

Tropical Cyclone Warning Signals elsewhere are now lifted.

Cloudy weather is being experienced in the province in the past 2 hours.

II. ALL ROADS AND BRIDGES ARE PASSABLE

III. TARLAC RIVER SYSTEM AND TRIBUTARIES are NORMAL

IV. ACTIONS TAKEN

1. On ALERT LEVEL STATUS effective September 12, 2017 and close monitoring of the situation in
coordination with Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Region 3, LDRRMC’s and other partner Agencies..

2. Sent SITREPs to OCD/PGO and other concerned Offices/agencies thru Fax, text message, Social media
(yahoo mail / Facebook) and telephone calls in anticipation of the effects of the TROPICAL DEPRESSION
“MARING”.
