Every year we select 12 entrepreneurs between the ages of 15 and 22 for their amazing
work and celebrate them as pioneers in their community Each fellow is awarded their share
of US $100 000 to put toward their business, a week long entrepreneural training bootcamp
in South africa as well as the opportunity to win additional challenge prizes when they
meet certain growth milestones..
Although the funding that our delegates receive does vary, they all gain access to support
systems that develop and connect them for succesful future ventures.

Africa Careers Network seeks internship opportunities across all of Africa in all sectors, both private and public. Young
leaders in the ACN network come from about 43 African countries and have wide-ranging interests. We therefore aim to
provide opportunities in as many countries and sectors as possible.

young leaders and to host organisations, we recommend that they be at least 6-8 weeks in length. However, we also have
young leaders who are available at other times of the year and for longer periods of time, in some instances up to 12
months.

The ACN internship coordinators on campus work with host organisations to gather information about the internship
opportunities. These opportunities are then communicated to the relevant group of young leaders via an internship
advertisement. Interested young leaders need to apply for the internship by writing a CV and cover letter. In most cases
this is submitted to the ACN internship coordinators for review and shortlisting. The ACN team can then work with the
host organisation to select the best candidate(s). Some organisations choose to interview a selection of candidates by

There are two categories of young leaders available for internships:
$/$6WXGHQWVWKHVHDUHVWXGHQWVZKRDUHFXUUHQWO\DW$/$7KH\DUHHLWKHULQWKHLUͤUVWRUVHFRQG\HDUDW$/$DQG
are working towards their A-levels. They are aged between 17 and 19 years old. Young leaders in this category have

perform basic administrative tasks, and in some cases work on discreet projects doing basic tasks.

2) University students: these young leaders have completed their secondary school education and are aged
between 18 and 23. Some of them are pursuing higher courses of study at university, while others are pursuing
entrepreneurial business or social ventures or looking for opportunities. The ALA graduates and MasterCard
Foundation Scholars in university have generally the highest degree of maturity and are capable of undertaking

Most organisations provide a stipend to cover the intern’s living costs. Stipends range widely across countries and

often no visa issues. In extraordinary circumstances where an internship is located in another country, we will work
