The one metre long section(ie. one metere along the span of the stringer beam) of the handrail marked in
the figure (the section includes two vertical bars) has been conservatively used to determine the dead load
due to the weight of handrail.

6. CONCLUSION
The stairway members were checked for adequacy againt dead loads, a live load of 5 kN/m2 and against
the wave slam force as required by STDS-ST-SPE-1-0001-01-00-00 Section 8.5 and was found to be
adequate.
