Fabrication Plan Guidelines
1. Introduction
Fabrication Plan is the important tool to plan the parts procurement and further manufacturing as

per their delivery schedules.
With the help of this fabrication plan, teams can identify the entire procurement & fabrication
activities into different activities. This tool can also be used by the teams for the continuous

monitoring of the activities and comparison of planned vs. actual execution as per their own
requirements.
2. Fabrication Plan Data
First of all, it is important to understand the items given in this fabrication Plan Format:
2.1 Parts/Components:
These are the items being procured or fabricated and will be used in actual vehicle. Prototype etc
shall not be considered.
2.2 Lead Time for Delivery:
This is the total time in days for the delivery of particular part/ material after placing of an order
to supplier.
2.3 Lead Time for Manufacturing:
This is the total time in days for the in-house fabrication of particular part/ material after delivery
of 'raw material'/ 'base part which will be customized'.
2.4 Purchased Parts:
All such parts which are purchased from market and will be used in the vehicle without any
customization. All sponsored parts/ discounted parts shall be considered in purchased part
category if there is no modification in those parts. Any raw material which is purchased for the
fabrication of any other part in the vehicle shall not be included in this list.
2.5 Customized Parts:
All such parts which are purchased from market and some manufacturing operations or
customization has been done for using it in vehicle.
2.6 Fabricated Parts:
All such parts which are fabricated in-house by the team from a raw material, will be considered
as fabricated part.
2.7 Reused Parts:
All such parts which are re-used by team from any previous season vehicle shall be included in
the re-used parts list.
2.7 Legends:
The activites shall be denoted with the following legends:-
Delivery Period shall be displayed with the Double Arrow Line (Colour-Blue, Type-Continuous
Line, Weight-3)
Maufacturing/Fabrication Period (Colour-Green, Type-Continuous Line, Weight-3) (Colour-
Green, Type-Continuous Line, Weight-1.5)
Milestones, if any, shall be shown with upward triangle (Colour-Orange, Outline-Black). The
description of milestone shall be given in the TEXTBOX provided adjacent to it in your plan
sheet. Text

However, teams may use any other legends as per their choice for addition information. Use of
call out boxes etc may be done for effective display of information.
The timeline, activities shown in the format and the example sheets are only representative for the
understanding of teams. Teams must enter their actual data.
3. Format
3.1 The same format must be used by the teams. No other formats shall be accepted.
3.2 Enter the team ID and the team Name at the boxes given at the top of the sheets.
3.3 Mention all the dates and number of days as per your activities accordingly.
3.4 There must be total 5 sheets including plan sheet and 4 sheets for type of parts.
In the plan sheet, the minimum number of components is given, all these components must be

present in the fabrication plan sheet. Teams may add more items as per their actual design.
Teams need to enter the lead time for delivery, lead time for manufacturing and date of placing
3.6 order. The date of delivery and date of manufacturing shall be calculated automatically in the plan
sheet.

4. Submission & Deadline


Fabrication plan must be submitted in the MS Excel file format only. Any other fromat like word

document, PDF documents, presentation files etc are not acceptable.

This document should be submitted as a part of documentation package as per guidelines of

rulebook.
