Lesson Plan
Introduction
A large part of the practicum courses is creating lesson plans to use in the
classroom. For this artifact, I will submit three original assignments. The 3rd lesson plan
for the semester, the video of myself teaching that lesson plan, then the last assignment is
journal feedback. The lesson plan is a breakdown of who all is in the classroom, what
kind of IEP goals need to be met, what will occur during the lesson plan, as well as the
UDL principles that are being used throughout the lesson. The video is simply a video of
the entire lesson, which includes four high school students and myself. The journal
feedback is a breakdown of my video and making a connection from articles that I read
Purpose
The three assignments all-together show the purpose of creating a positive and
impactful lesson plan from the planning process to the actual lesson plan to evaluating the
overall lesson. Understanding that there are many different variables that go into creating
a special education lesson plan due to IEP goals and UDL principles. The practicum was
the first time during the masters programs that we created lesson plans which are a part of
Revisions
On the lesson plan, as well as the journal feedback, I received a 19/25 so revisions
to my assignment were needed. On the lesson plan, the feedback I received from Dr.

Elford was that it was not detailed enough and there are a couple of questions that were
accidently left unanswered. I filled in the two slots that were not answered. Dr. Elford
mentioned that the lesson plans need to be detailed enough that a substitute teacher will
be able to teach the lesson without my assistance, so it became more detailed in the
instructions. On the journal feedback, Dr. Elford mentioned that I needed better quotes
for the ‘Research’ part of the chart. So, I went back into that class and went back through
Over the practicum course, I created three lesson plans in which I had to create
the plan, video the lesson in a class, as well as make the journal feedback. Throughout
each time that a plan was created, I learned more about the importance of a lesson plan.
Planning each step is the best way for a positive lesson plan where each student’s IEP
goals.
Watching back the video of the lesson is honestly one of the best ways to improve
the lessons because I can just watch to see the students’ engagement in the lesson, as well
as making each lesson as productive and impactful as possible. I may finish the lesson
thinking that each student was engaged throughout the lesson, but watching it back shows
that keeping the students focused on the material was not as successful as I might have
thought.
