Dear Parents/Carers

I hope you have now picked up our letter with information regarding the return to school in
September. If not, it is in the school office with your child’s report.

School Meals and Free School Meals

All children moving from Year 2 into Year 3 will now need to pay for school meals, unless you
are entitled to receive free school meals. To check your entitlement, please call the benefits
service on 01274 434477. If your child is having a school meal you will need to pay via
Parentpay and each meal costs £1.80.

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will receive UNIVERSAL free school meals but you still
need to check your entitlement to qualify for other things such as a voucher towards school uniform
and free school milk.

Milk
If you pay for your child’s milk the first term (September to December) the cost will be £14.00.
You can pay for milk at the school office.

Attendance
Please can I remind parents not to take holiday during school time, we will not be authorising any
leave requests next year. If you do take extended leave you could risk being issued with a fine or
losing your child’s place at Fagley Primary. Prolonged periods of absence will have a detrimental
effect on your child’s education as well as their social and emotional wellbeing. We have a two
week break at Spring Bank from 22nd May to 6th June 2021 when holidays abroad are generally
cheaper, this may be a good time to choose instead.

If children are taken ill with a stomach bug please keep them at home for 48 hours. This will
avoid passing germs on to other children. If a child returns to school before 48 hours they will
be sent home. If your child feels unwell before school with headache, sore throat, cough or a
slight temperature please give them Calpol and bring them to school. We have 21 First Aiders in
school who will look after your child if they complain of being unwell and we will contact you if we
think they are too ill to be in school.

Make medical appointments out of school time or during school holidays if it is not an urgent
matter. It is OK to take your child to a hospital appointment as these appointments are issued to
you, but please bring the appointment letter into school so we can make a note in our absence
book. Please do not take your child out of school for personal appointments such as hair
appointments, shopping trips, birthdays etc.

If you change your contact telephone number don’t forget to let office staff know. It is
important that we can get in-touch with you in case of an emergency.
Swimming
Class 3 will be going swimming to Eccleshill Pool every Thursday starting from the second week
back after the summer holidays. They will walk to and from the pool. Please remember to send
your child to school with their swimming costume/trunks and a towel. There first swimming lesson
will be on Thursday 10th September.

Uniform
We can only keep a very limited amount of uniform in stock, therefore please make sure you have
purchased everything you need for September before we return to school. We cannot guarantee
we will have all sizes in stock if you come to buy jumpers/cardigans on the first day back.
Natasha’s Schoolwear in Bradford stock Fagley Primary uniform. School ties for years 3, 4, 5 or
6 and book bags can be purchased from the school office.

Staffing
We say goodbye and thank you to Mrs Rutherford. She is moving to another Primary School in
Bradford where she will be Deputy Head. We thank you for being a brilliant Deputy Head here at
Fagley where her commitment to doing the best for your children has held her in high regard at
Fagley and in surrounding schools by both children and staff. Thank you, Mrs Rutherford.

Reports
I hope that you enjoyed reading your child’s school report. I am always so proud that Fagley
Primary teachers know your children so well and the teaching continues to be Outstanding.

Summer Camp
So many exciting activities are planned for your children for the first four weeks of the summer
break (Monday to Thursday). If your child has a place, please make sure that they attend every
day.

Year 6
We say goodbye to our Year 6 children and wish them the very best in their upper school – you
are all stars in our eyes!
