IV. PROCEDURES

Teacher’s Activity Student’s Activity

A. Reviewing previous lesson or
presenting the new lesson.
Good morning class! Good morning sir.
Are you all present? Yes sir.

Well then, very good class. Good job!

Yes sir!
Now, all eyes on the picture that is flash in
the projector.
It presents you with four pictures and then
require you to guess what specific word fits
with the theme of the photos presented.

Have you played this game?

Well then very good. How will you play this
game?
Yes sir.

Very good.
1
Bring out sheet of a paper. Write your
4
name and let’s have a game. Listen to my
instruction. First, analyse the picture well.
Second, raise your hand and guess the
answer. And lastly, the person who will get
the correct answer will have a 1 point. Note,
Volume sir.
the point will be added in your assessment
test.
Are you ready?

Ok! Let’s have the first pictures.

TEMPERATURE sir.

Very good. You get 1 point. Let’s have the

next picture.

PRESSURE sir.

So fast, very good. Let’s have another. Yes,

Hannah.

BEHAVIOUR sir.

GAS sir.

MOLECULE sir.
Yes,

you’re correct. Let’s have another.

Yes, you
hit it rigth.

Very
good. And
the
last…

Very good. You are all good in guessing the

words. So, the words that you guessed are
related to our topic today which is about the
behaviour of the gas.
But before we discuss our topic let me
present to you our topic for today.
B. Presenting examples/Instances of
the new lesson
Now I have a table here. This table is about
comparing al the three states of matter which
are the solid, liquid, and gas. I want you to
fill up this table.
Properties Gas Liquid Solid
Particle

Volume
Compressibility
Density

Compressibility Easily Difficult Extremely It has no definite shape.
Difficult
Density Low High High
It has no definite volume.
From the table that you all filled up. What
are the properties of the gas? Yes, Hanna? Angelica sir.

Very Good. It’s easy to compress.

Yes Albert?
Tricia sir.
Very good. Ok! Let’s have JM.
It has no density sir.
Very well said. JM, can you pick a name that
you love the most?
Please stand Angelica. So what are the other
properties of gas?
Very good. Angelica will tell the class who
is you friend? 123… Yes!

Tricia can you please stand. Can you tell me

the last property of the gas?
Very good.
So gases have no shape or volume. It easily
diffuses very readily, and any two gases will
mix completely when combined. It can be
compressed and have lower densities.
You are all very good in answering my
question. So let’s do the “Yes Clap”
C. Discussing new concepts and
practicing new skills # 1

Now look at the simulation of behaviour of

gas that is flashed in the projector.

When the molecules are heated, they move

faster and they move in any direction.

What did you observed to the molecules of Some molecules collide with each other and
Neon when heated? Yes, Axell. they go different direction.

You’re a keen observer Axell. You’re I observed that kinetic energy will form when
correct. it is heated as the temperature increases.

Can you give some other observation Miss

Charmaine?

Very good observation. Let’s have Ceasar.

Very good. I will pick your word kinetic

energy. This kinetic energy is related to what Yes sir.
you observe because all are related to the
principle of Kinetic Molecular Theory.

So, Kinetic Molecular Theory was proposed

by James Clerk Maxwell and Ludwig
Boltzmann in 19th century.
Yes sir.
There were three assumptions that they
proposed first is the gas is composed of a
large number of identical molecules moving
in random directions, separated by distances
that are large compared with their size.

Is the first theory correct?

Yes sir.

Very good. It’s true.

Yes sir.
The second assumption is the molecules
undergo perfectly elastic collisions (no
energy loss) with each other and with the
walls of the container, but otherwise do not
interact.

Is the second theory correct?

Yes, it’s true. Because even though the

molecules of a certain element like the Neon
will collide each other the energy will never
be loss.

And the last theory is the transfer of kinetic

energy between molecules is heat.

Is the last theory correct?

As what Albert said, there is a kinetic energy

in the molecules which is correct when it is
heated.

Did you understand guys?

D. Discussing new concepts and
Good answer Jaja. And let’s have the last,
yes Crisel?
As what I see, there is a thermometer who

temperature, pressure and volume that you will measure the temperature inside the

volume and giving it a greater density and
concentration of particles. Temperature
means the higher the temperature, the greater
There is also a gas pump who will control the

gas will change the gas' concentration and
pressure.
Did you understand guys?

So what are the factors that affect the

behaviour of the gas?
Yes, Jr?

Very good. Yes sir.

Sir!
The factors affecting the behaviour of the gas
are the temperature, pressure and volume.
E. Making generalizations and
abstractions about the lesson
It seems that you have understood our topic
class so before we end it, I would like
someone, anyone to tell what he/she has
learned for today? Any volunteer? I learned that gas has a characteristics of no
shape or volume, diffuse very readily, and
any two gases will mix completely when
combined, can be compressed and has lower
Very good. Yes another? densities.
I learned also about the kinetic molecular
energy which the gas is composed of a large
What a scientific idea. Yes? number of identical molecules moving in
random directions, separated by distances that
are large compared with their size.
Very good. Now let’s do the Yes Clap.
I leaned the three factors affecting the
behaviour of the gas. These include the
temperature, pressure and volume.
1,2,3… Yes!
F. Evaluating learning
