4. Perform a short interpersonal text involving expression of greeting and leave
taking in pair responsibly.

The use of p.m and a.m to determine the greeting


 Good morning is used from 00.00 (12 o’clock in night) until 12.00 in the
noon
 Good day/noon is used at 12.00 o’clock in noon
 Good afternoon is used after 12.00 o’clock in noon until 18.00 o’clock
 Good Evening is used at 18.00 s/d 24.00(00.00)
 Good night is expresses when parting to sleep
 In western they use the pattern of showing time as follows :
 p.m. (post merediem) = start at 12.00 at noon until 12 at night
 a.m (Ante merediem) = start at 12.00 at night until 12 at noon

and the responses (see students’ worksheet on appendix

2. In group of four, students identify the social function of
the use of expression of greeting and leave taking and
the responses
3. One student of each group report their finding
ICOT 1. Individually, students fill blanks of 2 recording dialogs 25’
involving greeting and leave taking by listening

the recording dialog involving expression of greeting
and leave taking and the responses.
