Objective:
 Define a sequence.
 Identify the pattern of the given sequence.
 Solve the missing terms of the given sequence.
Overview:
A sequence is a function whose domain is in finite set {1, 2,3,…,n} or the infinite set
{1,2,3,…}. We may use the notation a1, a2, a3, a4,...,an to denote a(1), a(2), a(3),
a(4)…a(n), respectively. We often encounter sequences that forms a pattern such as
that found in the sequence below.

Example 1:
A finite sequence contains a finite number of terms. An infinite sequence contains an
infinite number of terms.

Example 2:

What is the next number?
Answer is 25.
The rule or the pattern for this numerical sequence is by adding 5.

1.) While sorting some buttons, Rafi put 40 buttons in the first box, 44 buttons in the

continues, how many buttons will Rafi put in the 8th box?
2.) Sweet Time Bakery just opened and is increasing the number of items they bake. For
example, the bakery made 1 carrot cake in November, 2 carrot cakes in December, 4
carrot cakes in January, 8 carrot cakes in February. If this pattern continues, how
many carrot cake will the bakery make in July?

3.) The sequence 6, 13, 27,55,…, each term after the first is determined by multiplying
the preceding term by m and then adding n. What is the value of n?
