Reasons for Selecting this Topic
I have chosen the business group with the keenest attention to the Accounting and Finance
which is my favorite subject and which I desired to research into in order to equip myself
unrivalled unmatched and unequalled to knowledge which is of over raiding importance to
claim that I am able to equip myself in the particular subject.

The research which I prosecute would enrich my knowledge to such an extent that in a
country likes that of ours and in our university where our Accounting department is
destitute of PhD holders. My successful completion of PhD and the research I undertake to
successfully complete my PhD would definitely transform the outlook of the department
intellectually. The research I successfully complete will, I do hope immeasurably contribute
to the growth of the Accounting department where our students would be able to update
themselves on various changes and advances which are globally made in this particular
field. Of all the subjects that the student chooses to enrich his/her knowledge the business
study is an important one as the world exist and moves on its outward matched to progress
purely based on the economic development is both impressive and imperative. If a country
lies wanting in sound Accounting and Finance, it cannot even dream of the minimum extent
of prosperity which is actually based on the economic stability further reinforced by the
economic strength by the well planned harnessing of all the resources available in the
country.

Reasons for My Career

Since my school career I have nursed and ambition in my mind that my performance in the
management studies ought to be par excellence forsooth it is the business community that
places a vital role as the sole arbiter of the destiny of a country. The economy of which is
partly poised on frenetic trading activities and partly on the stepping up of production and
productivity which contributes to the self sufficiency in food without which human
existence on earth is impossible the term malnutrition is a specifically applied only to

human creatures. The management studies throws a deeps insight into various aspects of
the business related problems and help one to evolve an economic strategy by which
several business related problems can be effectively solved. Management studies are of
both academic and professional interest and importance. The problem that crop up in this
field cab be critically analyzed both from the academic point of view and from the
professional point of view. The acquisition of the knowledge of a particular subject is an
imperishable treasure stored up in once brain. The application of such knowledge in
business management tends to widen and broaden the scope of the business activities
which though speculative yields substantial profit expected to be commensurate with the
investment made for it is axiom that the desired target of a business man is profit
irrespective of whether the profit margin is much or less. It is a well –considered view of
the experts in this field that one who figures well in management studies could be both a
well informed academic and successful professional when there is a healthy combination of
both knowledge and experience.

Overseas PhD Studentship

I Ajanthan Alagathurai, Lecturer attached to the department of Accounting of the University
of Jaffna, Sri Lanka. As I am bent on my academic development which I firmly think and
verily belief is indispensably essential for the mastery of the subject which I am intensely
interested in and for the acquisition of professional skills which is a contributory factor to
my phenomenal success in my favored and well-chosen field which, it is my settled
conviction opens up a new vista of hope that I could build up a bright and rosy academic
career purely based on my academic attainment and achievement. It is an indubitably well
known fact that several momentous changes and rapid advances are globally mode in the
realm of each and every subject of academic importance, interest and also of professional
important. To keep abreast of this changes and advances the furtherance of my course of
study up to the PhD level becomes the hourly need, nay crying need because of the very fact
that I am saddled with the onerous responsibility and duty of professing the students and
guiding them to the best of my ability to map out a bright academic and professional career
for them. Being acutely aware of imperative importance and the benefit of a course leading

to the conferment of the PhD I strive to further my course of study surmounting all the
obstacles our country is in the process of development on all fronts it abounds in all the
resources necessary for the educational advancement and overall property of the country
prioritizing postgraduate education government of Sri Lanka implements several schemes.
Aimed at developing the potentials of the students who are aspirations for a higher
academic course after the successful completion of their master’s degree programme. As I
have already pointed out above one who is bent on academic advancement cannot be let
lacking behind in it either on account of apathy or woeful lack of the opportunities for the
realization or once cherished ambition of a higher academic course. As I feel that the
completion of a PhD programme is sine qua non for my own intellectual growth as well as
for the avowed intention of equipping my students with sound and intimate knowledge I
have to acquire for the successful completion of my PhD programme.

As I am readily inclined to share my knowledge with the students who my wish to guide
ably my studentship for the successful fulfillment of my best chosen objective becomes
absolutely necessary. Under no circumstances can I afford to let slip such an opportunity
which I much necessarily avail myself to strengthen my academic career on the firmest
foundation of my scholastic attainment towards which I relentlessly direct all my concerted
effort.
