Production Coordinator (unscripted TV)


What does the job entail?
A production coordinator on the production of an unscripted TV show does
things to keep the moving smoothly. They arrange transport and
accommodation during shooting, ensure places and people are booked and
accessible and the team has all the documentation they need like permission
forms etc.
What do I need to be good
at (for this role)?
For this role you would need to be very organised and be good at improvising
as especially on an unscripted TV show you need to be able to adapt quickly
to situations that are thrown at you for example on a reality show a couple of
the stars decide to go in a shop a production coordinator must be on hand
with permission forms for the owner of the location as well as permission
forms for people in the shop.
Are there any tools of the
trade required?
It is very important to have a good knowledge of filming laws like
understanding health and safety rulings data protection legislation and
compliance, clearance and copyright requirements.
Who would you work with?
Production managers, line producers, production secretaries, production
assistants runners, and directors. They also deal with crew; facility houses
and external companies.
How do you become a …
To become Production Coordinator, you need at least one year's experience
as a Production Secretary or Production Assistant. Qualification wise. There
isn’t a specific course for a Production Coordinator. However there are
multiple courses that can lead to becoming one. The best way to become one
is through an apprenticeship or work experience.

Production Designer
What does the job entail?
Production designers create the way a film or TV drama looks. They will
often collaborate with other art departments to make sets on a production
look the part.
What do I need to be good
at (for this role)?
For this role you need to be creative as well as be competent at art.
Communication is also key because you need to work with other art
departments at all times.

Who would you work with?


A production designer would work with all the art department as well as the
director and producers to make sure everyone's visions aligned.
What did you learn from
watching the videos?
From the video I learnt that you have to be a leader and a manager first and
foremost.

The best way would be to work your way up through the art departments on
set and education wise something creative would most likely be the best
option.
