Personal Development Plan

How your strengths and opportunities from your SWOT analysis could help you gain
the qualifications needed for an entry level job.

My strengths and opportunities can help me gain the qualifications needed for a job entry
level because I have the skills and knowledge on making a plan for a short film and I know
how to put a detailed edit into the final piece. I could also make a big portfolio with
everything I have done on short film for future employers wanting me for any type of job and
will put me in a better position going forward ahead of other people applying for the job. I
also know how to work around obstacles on my short film and I know how to fix any
problems going forward. I could get an entry level job as a Production Assistant as I would
be running around everywhere and the role is looking for someone who has an interest in
developing a career in project management. All together my knowledge of film making would
help me get an entry level job. This is with my knowledge of skilled editing, producing a
storyboard, planning and filming would all be beneficial to getting a job in film.

What type of entry level job you would aim for and how you could fulfil the
requirements.

For an entry level job, you could start off being a production assistant where you are the
helper around the set if that’s from getting coffees for the crew to moving the crew
around to their designated bits. They are there to ensure all members of the cast and
crew have the information they need to work efficiently. They hire crews, book venues
and obtain permission so that the production crew can have access they need.
Production assistants work to allow the producer to focus on producing the project.
Working as a production assistant can be an entry level job. However, many production
assistants gain experience working as a runner, working as a runner teaches aspiring
Production Assistants how to take the right direction and how productions work.
Attending insight and talent days can teach aspiring Production assistants what working
for a major media channel is like. Some film studios, TV and radio channels also accept
volunteers for work experience and apprenticeship.

How an entry level job could help you get a job within the film industry.

An entry level job could help you get a job within the film industry because it shows the
producer and future employers that you are determined to do stuff whilst at work and you
will have all the experience going into working at a bigger job. It will also show future
employers how you will work on a film set and with film people as you are working at a
fast rate and to deadlines and will also show how well organised you are when planning
stuff for the cast and crew. You also get familiar with everything on a film set and will get
a better knowledge of everything around the set and why it is put there.
Overall I think I will be able to achieve my plan because I have a good knowledge of
planning a short-film and I know the obstacles that I could possibly face going forward in
the film industry. I also know how to work on a film set with a better knowledge on
everything in and around the film. The ultimate film job would be a producer because I
will have all the skills from my job entry level and I will know where everything is on the
set and why everything is there.
