Different life process is important because from here we can be able to determine
whether the organism is living or non-living. To remember these life processes it
is made in the acronym MRS GERN (Movement, Respiration, Sensitivity, Growth,
Excretion, Reproduction and Nutrition.), but let us take only the GERN acronym.

GROWTH – all living organisms grow. Plants, animals and humans continue to
grow all throughout their lives. This means as living organisms, they are capable
to grow, mature and develop. This life process is crucial to ensure that theses
organisms will not get into extinction. The growth of an organisms determines
whether that organism can thrive in a certain surrounding.

EXCRETION – all living organisms makes waste products. These can be harmful
or useless and therefore it needs to be eliminated from the body. Excretion a
metabolic process where organisms rid harmful or unwanted material their body.
Plants stores waste substances in their leaves, the waste is removed when the
leaves wither and falls. The Animals and human breathe out waste carbon
dioxide through respiration. Others waste substances leaves the body in the
form of urine and sweat. Getting rid of feces or undigested food is not excretion
but egestion.

REPRODUCTION – Reproduction is a process by which organisms produces their

own kind to ensure that their species will survive. Plants produce seeds that
gives rise to the new plant of the same species. Animals can lay eggs or have
babies. In Huma, they can only bear child not eggs. Reproduction can occur in
two ways. Asexual and Sexual. Asexual reproduction occurs when one parent
can reproduce itself. In the Sexual Reproduction, there is union of two gametes
the egg cell and the sperm

NUTRITION - is needed for growth for energy and growth both plants and
animals. Plants can able to make their own food through photosynthesis
however animals and human cannot male their own food. They rely on plants
and animals. Animals and humans can take in complex substances and break

down into small, pieces and soluble molecules which can be used for energy
and growth.
