LEARNING OBJECTIVES

M At the end of the lesson, most pupils will be able to listen to the chant and identify the animals correctly.

C At the end of the lesson, most pupils will be able to name at least 5 animals in the picture correctly.

1. Elicit the names of the four Super Friends and their powers. Focus on what Whisper can do.
2. Elicit the animal he speaks to on SB page 8.
I. PRE-LESSON
3. Elicit other animals pupils know.
4. Write pupils’ responses on the board to create a bubble map of animals.
1. Activity 1:
Hold up each flashcard in turn. Say the word for pupils to repeat in chorus. Then, hold up each
flashcard for pupils to say the word in chorus. Stick the flashcards on the board.
2. Activity 2:
Pupils look at the picture.(SB pg 34) Elicit what they can see. Pre-teach pet and pet show. Play
the recording. Pupils point to the pictures when they hear them and repeat the words. Pupils
practise pointing and naming in pairs.
II. LESSON
DEVELOPMENT 3. Activity 3:
Put up a chant chart on the board. Play the recording. Pupils listen and follow. Play the
recording again, pause after each verse for pupils to repeat. Do the chant as a class and then in
groups. Make eight groups. Hand out a flashcard to each group. Pupils do the chant again,
holding up the relevant flashcard when they say the animal. Elicit which of the animals in the
picture isn't a pet and which one everyone in the picture is frightened of.
4. Activity 4:
Distribute worksheets. Pupils complete the crossword puzzle given.

1. Ask these questions to the pupil for discussion. What is your favourite animal? Why?

2. Encourage pupils to share their responses to the class.

1. Display flashcards on the board. (vocabulary from SB page 24)


2. Give pupils a minute to look at the flashcards.
I. PRE-LESSON
3. Pupils close their eyes and take one or two flashcards away.
4. Pupils say which flashcards are missing.
5. Activity 1:
a. Recap previous lesson by showing toys and numbers flashcards.
b. Hold up each flashcard for pupils to say the word in chorus.
c. Stick the flashcards on the board or around the room.
6. Activity 2:
II. LESSON a. Elicit key language e.g. My favourite toy’s my.... My favourite number’s…. and write this
DEVELOPMENT on the board.
b. Add also My favourite colour’s………. .
c. Ask pupils to draw a picture related to their favourite thing.
d. Tell them to write about it using the language support on the board to show what they
have learned (e.g. My favourite toy’s my long, blue train).
e. Monitor and help as and when necessary.
3. Ask pupils to share their texts with their classmates and to read what they have written.
III. POST LESSON 4. Display pupils work and conduct gallery walk.
5. Encourage pupils to give feedback/comment on their friends' work using sticky notes
