QUALITY MANAGEMENT

METHODOLOGY FOR DISMANTLING WORKS

MANPOWER REQUIRED:

2. Dumpers / Tractors

WORK PROCEDURE:

1. After due permission from the forest officials / Engineer (N.H.A.I./ I.E.) which is to
be obtained by SGPTL, the equipment shall enter the right of way.
2. The structures shall be carefully dismantled and the resulting materials so
removed shall not cause any damage to the serviceable materials and the
structures nearby.
3. The connecting edges shall be cut, chipped and trimmed to the required lines and
grades without weakening or damping any part of structure. Due care shall be
taken to ensure that the reinforcement bars which are left to be in place so as to
project into the new work as dowels or ties are not injured during removal of
concrete while extending the existing culverts / bridges.
4. In dismantling pavements, MS pipes guard rails, kerbs gutter, and fencing where
portions of existing construction are to be left in the finished work, the same shall
be removed to an existing joint or cut / chipped true to the lines with face
perpendicular to the existing structure.
5. All concrete pavements, base courses in carriage way and shoulders, etc,
designated for removal shall be broken into pieces and stock piled or disposed as
directed by the engineer.
6. Pipe culverts that are removed shall be cleaned and neatly piled in the row with in
a lead of 1Km.

Safety Measures:

1. All safety precautionary measures shall be taken as stated below: -

2. Signboards shall be placed along the right hand side on increasing chainage
at every 500 meters i.e. “KEEP RIGHT WORK IN PROGRESS”, GO SLOW
WORK IN PROGRESS”.

3. Moveable signboards shall be place at area where heavy machineries and


survey works being carried out. The movement of machines and lorries at
these areas shall be controlled by flagman’s Signboards such as “CAUTION
MAN AT WORK GO SLOW”, “CAUTION GO SLOW WORK IN
PROGRESS”.

4. Safety as per IRC-SP-55-2001 may be taken up in location warranting need.
