Evidence of thorough preparation for the day.

Effective behaviour management strategies used. Madeleine demonstrates good communication skills with the students
and uses positive reinforcement to re-engage off task students.

HASS
Review of previous lessons demonstrated that students had remembered and understood information about the First
Fleet. Good use of digital resources and review of video to engage learners with new information.

TASK
Research task was well designed. Explanation could have been more detailed so that all students had a clear
understanding prior to beginning. Maybe use one of the ‘aspects’ to model on the board, or have an example of what
the finished product should include? Students were confident and able to navigate the website to find what they
needed – great resource.

Overall the lesson was effective and students were engaged and able to work independently. The plan to form an
‘expert’ group for each aspect then get them to peer teach is fantastic. Great teaching and learning strategy.

Modelling and explanation. Try asking ‘What questions do you have?’, instead of ‘Any questions’ to get them thinking
about what they need clarified.
