SCHOOLS DIVISION OF BOHOL:

MS PowerPoint for Instructional Delivery

NARRATIVE REPORT

The Schools Division of Bohol was able to contemplate of a means for teachers to
have their incessant learning. They instigated a series of webinar through SDO Bohol
Task Force ICT Platforms facebook group – a group who facilitated the said webinars.
The topics discussed were very helpful for our teachers to deal with the so called new
normal way of teaching.
There were seven topics discussed by the facilitators within two weeks. One of my
favorite topic was MS PowerPoint for Instructional Delivery. I was amazed that there are
lot of things that MS PowerPoint can offer like improving the learners’ focus. It allows
working with other people can collaborate and contribute to a presentation. The presenter
can share the PowerPoint presentation with anyone which allows to share ideas/opinions
with anyone. PowerPoint is customizable to fit your needs. So, it can be used in
numerous ways to communicate with the audience. You can add text, audio, video, and
images to make it more appealing. The message which the teacher wants to convey to the
learners could be delivered faster along with a personal touch of customized design and
flow of presentation.
In the advent of new normal education, I could see the potential of PowerPoint
presentation in carrying out the lessons. Since classes are expected to be delivered online
no doubt PowerPoint presentations will have a special place out there. There are many
reasons but the key ones includes: (1) Appropriate use of PowerPoint can enhance the
teaching and learning experience for both teachers and students; (2) It provides
encouragement and support to teachers by facilitating the structuring of a presentation in
a professional manner. The templates provided have been designed to default to good
presentation criteria; (3) The electronic file format allows distribution and modification
for/by students unable to be present or who have impaired visual or auditory difficulties;
(4) Editing of each PowerPoint file is very easy with minimal associated reprinting costs.
This ease and potential immediacy of revision facilitates reflection upon, and evolution
of, teaching materials by staff whilst minimising the consequences of any revision in
terms of either workload or time; (5) The printing of handouts in a variety of formats is
facilitated with a number of embedded options to print either the slides themselves
(useful if there are graphics involved) or the text from the slides (outlines).
