Dear Sir Alex,

I am writing to respectfully ask your approval for my intention to work on an innovation project entitled
“Audio – Visual Materials as Instructional Innovation for Drafting Technology Teachers”. As part
of my moral and academic responsibility to share my knowledge and skills with my colleagues, I will be
offering a mentoring program to one of the teachers in the Senior High School who will be teaching TVL
Technical Drafting. This innovation project aims to incorporate technology in the teaching-learning
methodologies supportive of enhancing the learning experiences of the students and to help the
students attain the required competencies through the use of audio – visual materials.

Thank you very much in anticipation to your unfailing support.

Very Truly Yours,

SUNNY B. OJEDA, RMP

I. Title of Innovation
Audio – Visual Materials as Instructional Innovation for Drafting Technology Teachers

II. Rationale
The primary role of teachers is to educate the learners through different learning
methodologies one of which is the use of any accessible educational technology. In the time of world
health crisis, teachers are prevented from utilizing the traditional methodologies in the teaching-
learning process. The demonstration method of technical vocational teachers which is the most
applicable method to teach our students with the trade skills could not be resorted to because of the
constraints, characteristics of the present pandemic. Our teachers are really facing real – life
challenges in delivering instructions. This is not only evident in the modular distance learning but also
in the online distance learning, e.g. the impediment in using camera for online demonstration teaching
as well as to computer applications relevant to generate video tutorials and / or computer assisted
instructions. At this point, the innovator sees that the most essential learning competencies of the
learners could be best developed if teachers are knowledgeable in computer applications such as
Adobe Animate, Open Broadcasting Studio, PowerPoint with Animation, ShareX, PPT to EXE
Converter and the like.
Desiring to help his co-teachers gain confidence in embracing the challenges in the present
education via available computer applications, and at the same time supporting the “academic ease”
of the Department of Education, the innovator took the cudgel of preparing this humble work.

III. Objectives
 To incorporate technology in the teaching-learning methodologies supportive of enhancing
the learning experiences of the students;
 To help them attain the required competencies through the use of audio – visual materials.

VI. PROJECT ACCOMPLISMENTS

Summary of Responses of Drafting Teachers and Students
1. Does audio-visual material keep you attentive in the online class period?
 25 out 30 or 83.33% of the respondents agrees that the audio-visual material keeps
the students attentive in the online class period.
2. Does the audio-visual material make the lesson more interesting?
 26 out 30 or 86.67% of the respondents agrees that the lesson with audio-visual
material is more interesting.
3. Does the audio-visual material help you understand the lesson with ease?
 28 out 30 or 93.33% of the respondents agrees that they easily understand the
concept through the audio-visual material.
4. What do you think are the effects of audio-visual material in terms of classroom interaction
and concept retention?
 Teacher-respondents agree that audio-visual material is not only beneficial to them
but also to the students since it provides sensory experience which is more
enhancing than using self-learning modules and learning activity sheets. The online
classroom interaction appears to encourage active participation of students as
compared with the traditional setting. They believe that using the material will
increase the concept retention when it comes to demonstration of skills since the
students can replay the material as often as they want.
 Student-respondents agree that they are more enthusiastic to learn and are
encouraged to interact if the audio-visual is incorporated in teaching process of the
teacher, because the step by step process of doing the task help them understand
the concept easily.
