I. OBJECTIVE:
At the end of 50 minute-period, 100% of the learners are expected to:
1. Identify the different types of soil based on their physical characteristics.
II. CONTENT:
Subject Matter: The different types of soil based on their physical
characteristics.
Integration:
ESP: Collaboration, Teamwork and Self-Confidence
English: Speaking/Reporting
EPP: Conservation of Natural resources, Appreciation of God’s creation

ELICIT MATERIALS
Pictures
Show various pictures and ask them what types of soil they need
to apply.
ENGAGE
1. Motivation: Observe
What to do:
a. Allow the pupils to go outside of the classroom where they can
walk on school ground (uncemented) for 3 to 5 minutes.
b. If the weather is not good just let the pupils stay on the lobby
or classroom where they can still see the school ground. Notebook and
c. Let them observe for 3 to 5 minutes. Pen
d. Ask them what covers the surface of the ground and what it
contains?
Ask them also if similar things are seen if one digs deeper into
the ground. Do all soils have similar characteristic?
ELABORATE
Generalization: Cartolina,
1. Summarize the different concepts developed by the pupils using the Marking Pen
graphic organizer below (Triad Diagram) which shows the
similarities and differences of the different types of soil.
2. Areas which are shaded and interlocking or intersecting with other
circles should contain list of similarities and differences of soil
types.
Values Integration:
If you are to choose between the three types of soil, which type
do you like best? Least? (Varied answers) Ask them to support
their answers.
Do you consider soil as a natural resource? Why? (Varied
answers)
If so, What should we do to show care for the soil as creation of
God? (Varied answers)

1. Write the main concept of the lesson learned on the topmost box.
2. On the second layer of boxes, Write the subtopics or the
secondary concepts.
3. On the last layer of boxes, write in each box words or phrases
that describe the subtopics.
