LESSON DESCRIPTION
Component Time /min Description
Opening Description of instant activity: Teacher will call students attention. Teacher will then read a headline from an article pertaining to
Activity the lesson’s topic.

Transition to next task: After further discussing the headline the teacher will move onto the introduction.

Introduction, Description of introduction activity: Good evening class! My name is Mr. Brown and today we are going to be talking abot alcohol
Review, use and how it correlates to date rape, sexual assault, STI’s and unwanted pregancies. This can be a sensitive topic for some, so if
Expectations at any point you feel uncomfortable, please be feek to address that and remove yourself from the class. Unfortunately, these types
of instances occur more often than you would think. Especially when alcohol is involved with one or all individuals involved. Now
we’re going to watch a short clip introducing the topic of alcohol and sexual misconduct.

Transition to next task: Students will be allowed to ask questions and then will move onto first lecture portion.

Learning Task 1: Learning task, demonstrations & class organization: Skill cues: Differentiated Instruction: Feedback:

Transition to closing:

Lesson Description of closing activity: I hope that scenario helped give a more clear understanding of the potential consequences of
Closure & underage and irresponsible drinking. Despite popular belief, alcohol is actually considered a drug, a depressant more specifically. It
Review contains ethyl alcohol which creates the effect of intoxication or being drunk. When consumed in large amounts despite the many
factors that go into blood alcohol content, nervous function is slowed down. This leads into problems such as unwanted pregnancy,
unprotected sex and STI’s, and unfortuantely incidents of sexual assault and rape.

Teacher 1. Positive Environment: Explain how you provide a safe, respectful, and organized environment for your students (i.e. identify at
Reflection least two examples for your lesson): Students were permitted the option to exclude themselves from the lesson since this is a
sensitive learning topic. During the application task students were not going to be judged based on the answers they gave during the
scenarios. The point was to be a learning activity and not all students might have known the correct things to say and do.
2. Explain how you use discussion, technology, planning and organization to maximize students’ engagement in the lesson (i.e.
Identify at least one example from your lesson): The use of showing an informative video in the opening activity felt effective and
grabbing the student’s attention. Instead of just talking the entire time I used a video to deliver the information through a different
medium.
3. Student Engagement: Explain how you actively engage students in accomplishing the objectives of the lesson in the domains of
learning (i.e. behavioral, cognitive, and affective; Identify at least one example from your lesson): The application task accomplished
all three learning objectives. The students were able to participate and show their knowledge, then also understand how immediate
some of the consequences of the scenario are.
4. Engaging students in learning: Explain how you actively monitored students’ actions during the learning task(s) and provided
positive and/or corrective feedback to help them develop competency in learning. (i.e. Identify at least one example from your
lesson): Since the majority of the lesson was lecture the only monitoring that had to be done was answering questions and concerns
the students had.
Enhancing student learning: Describe how you used questions, explanations, and demonstrations to help students develop
understanding and competency in the lesson focus content( i.e. health topic(s)) (i.e. Identify at least one example from your lesson).:
The lesson had different types of charts, graphs and statistics to understand the topics better. The application task also tied up
everything the lesson explained into one conside activity.
