5. The cut concrete debris shall be removed by hammer and chisel. In the case of SOG slab the steel shall be
exposed and bent upwards to provide lapping at the time of recasting.
6. Laying of Services
7. The Surveyor shall layout the alignment and levels of the services to be provided. Wherever the service is passing
a structural member the surveyor shall mark the location and a core shall be drilled. The service pipes shall be laid
out and connected in accordance to approved shop drawings.
8. Filling of Cores
9. After the laying of the services is complete the gaps around pipe penetrations shall be closed off using Laticrete
Hydro Ban. This material shall be used as per its manufacturer’s recommendations as specified in the attached
data sheets.
10. Replacement of Concrete
11. Once all the service installations are complete, the area shall be back filled in layers of a maximum depth of
200mm. Each layer shall be tested to 95% of compaction. The filling and compaction shall continue till the
formation level is reached or in cases of excavation under tie beams, layer compaction below the beam is not
possible due to lack of space. At this point blinding concrete shall be placed
12. Anti-termite Treatment
13. Below the SOG blinding, anti-termite treatment shall be done a few hours before the placement of the blinding
concrete. Care shall be taken to protect the treated soil using polythene sheets.
14. Blinding
15. Shuttering for the blinding shall be fixed to provide a blinding bed 200mm to 300mm deep and 150mm wider than
the strap beam. WIR shall be prepared and offered for inspection to the Consultant along with the complete
preparation of concrete placement. Once the approval from the Consultant has been obtained the concrete shall
be placed.
16. Curing
17. Once the blinding has obtained its initial setting curing shall start and shall proceed for a day. The shuttering shall
be removed and the backfilling and compaction shall be continued as described above.
