Step 1: I will review the principles of learning of Principles of Teaching 1 by Corpuz,

B. and G. Salandanan.

Step 2: I will observe three classes.

Step 3: Discuss my observations/answers to the questions with my partner.

Step 4: Guided by a question/questions, I will reflect on my own experience, write

down my reflection.
II. My Tools

As I observe a class, I will use the Observation Sheet for a more focused
observation.

Principle of Learning
Learner as Proof of the Application
of the Principle of Learning

Learning is evident to the student if you

Learning is an experience that allow them to obtain it. The teacher set
occurs inside the learner and is an activity the requires the student to
activated by the learner listen to music that will later be part of
the discussion.

Mrs. Perez plays a song to the students

Learning is the discovery of the that they surely know. It is a pop song
personal meaning and relevence of by some famous singer. This makes the
ideas students tag and sing along to the
music. After hearing the song, Mrs.
Perez asks the class about their ideas

about the song and this makes the
students to bombarded the teacher with
rich information, thoughts, and,
personal ideas about the music.

One of the activities that the teacher

gives to the students is to compose
music that can tell their story during
summer vacation. This motivates the
students to just tell their experiences
Learning is a consequences of during that time and share fun
experience memories through music. But allowing
them to experience how to compose a
song using your personal experience
and rules and pattern of composing a
piece of music.

Mrs. Perez divides the class into four

groups and they need to discuss the
importance of music in their lives. This
strategy teaches the students to rely on

ideas that the group has and they need
to decide what is the best answers they
will use to present in the class.

Before Mrs. Perez discusses the lesson,

she asks the class what are their

start the topic. She discusses first the
meaning of arts and then followed by
the importance of arts in society. This
allows the students to slowly digest the
information that Mrs. Perez provides for
them.

There are instances that the students

will encounter this feeling of being
ashamed for the wrong answer during
recitation. One of the students is really

answer the questions. Then the bell
rings and Mrs.Perez vacates the room

low grade of recitation.

The class is full of different types of

personality, values, culture, and,
religion, etc. Mrs. Perez start the lesson
by asking the students to give their

III. My Analysis

1. What is the impact of the Resource Teacher’s observance of these principles

on the teaching-learning process of the learners?

The significant effect of a Resource Teacher’s is to elevate the learning

experience of all students inside the class. Being considerate and being aware of the
needs of your students is a big factor in knowing the proper teaching principles,
instructions, and, materials that you will use inside the class. Proper management and
instructions help the students to learn and explore other strategies in order to absorb
information and have an effective and active class. Some schools might have a student
that has a deficiency in physical, intellectual, emotional, or mental status. So preparing
a learning experience for them that will suit their needs is a big help for them.

2. Which learning principle was applied most?

The “Learning is a cooperative and collaborative process principle” and “Learning

is an experience that occurs inside the learner and is activated the learner principle” is
the most notable learning principles that appears inside the class. The set up of modern
teaching in the 21st-century learner is to imply the importance of letting the student be the
center of the class. They are the one that synthesizes and expanding the variety of ideas
about the topic through collaboration and group research. The teacher is mostly acting
as a facilitator and supporting the needs of the students.

3. Which learning principle was applied least or not at all applied?

The least principle that applied inside the class is “Learning is sometimes a
painful process” because, in this era, learners are not easy to discourage or to
demotivate for just a simple mistake that they made inside the class. After the recitation
they have that day, some of the students that have a lower grade in recitation are the
ones that being active in the class the next day. Also, the teacher is not letting the class
feel
6|Page
FS 2 Principles of Learning
the negativity of being wrong, but instead, she encourages them and still welcomes all
of the answers or opinions they have.

4. Do you agree with these principles of learning? Or have you discovered that
they are not always correct?

I think the real question here is. Is it achievable to apply all of this inside the
class? It always bothers to see if when a strategy or technique will need to change or
not. Surely these principles are very effective in this class, but I cannot say that it has
the same result in the classroom we have next door. We need to lined up of
instructions and principles to the needs of our students. But also knowing the capacity
of your self to apply this inside the class should be considered before the class
started. I believed that teachers also have strengths and weaknesses inside the
class. Some teachers are very good at teaching and discussing the topic that is placed
in the range of learning of his/her student. Others are good at leading and giving
instructions to their students. It is important to be vital about these issues in order to
conduct a much effective, active, and conducive learning environment for the students.

IV. My Reflections

♦ My reflection on my observations of my Resource Teacher’s observance of

these principles. Did my Resource Teachers adhere to these principles?

In this observation, what I see is that Mrs. Perez emphasizes the importance of
listening to your students' competence in learning and supporting them to get better.
She clearly adjusts the content of the lesson to the needs of the students and believes
that her students will adapt and create their own strategy of learning, with help of course
of their teacher and classmate when in times of collaboration. The relevancy of the topic
is also important if the student can relate to the subject using situations that they might
be involved in or involve to.

♦ Lessons I have learned from my observations on the classroom application of

the principles of learning.

The lesson that I will probably use in the future that I learned in this observation
is always to pursue the betterment of your students. The best thing you can give them is
the ability to learned well and the importance of believing in their own strengths and
filling their weaknesses with the help of others. To have a better society in the future,
there should be a progressive improvement right now. Students' interests change fast,
so the teacher should be updated and able to adapt to the needs of the students.
Always remind that in school, learning should be a win-win situation both for teachers
and students. Teachers should learn new strategies and methods that will promote
active learning, while the students should believe their teachers and learn how to learn
and be involve in all class activities and discover their skills that they might use in the
future.
