Principles of Learning

inside the learner and is activated by the
learner.

FIELD STUDY 2
A Must Teaching Behavior of the Teacher/
Learning Behavior of the Learner as Proof of
the Application of the Principle
1. Teacher lets the learners do the learning activity.
E.g.- Pupil writes letter A instead of Teacher
writing for them.
2. The teacher give some sentences or topic then
she told the students to write their own ideas or
thoughts about the topic. The students wrote their
personal understanding about the topic and what
they wrote must be relevant to the idea that they
mean to express.
3. As I observed the classroom, the teacher let her
students wrote their own understanding of their
chosen line in the song. They wrote how they feel
about the line and what are their experiences that
they can relate to the line and after that, they wrote
their learning/lessons of the said experiences.
4. The teacher grouped them into six groups and
after that the teacher gave them their topic that
they were going to discuss and after that the
students now share their own ideas about their
topic. The learners are very cooperative in their
discussing, they asked, they share, and they
suggest ideas that you can see in their faces that
they’re really paying attention to their tasks and
with that learning happens.
5. Learning is like a step-by-step process. A
learner doesn’t directly learn abstract ideas if he or
she doesn’t have a foundation of all his/her
learning. A learner must first know those concrete
things/learning before proceeding to the abstract.
As I observed the classroom, the learners are first
taught what are the things that they think or what
comes to their mind if the teacher will say
“Brochure”, then after that the teacher discusses
what a brochure means then gives different types
of brochures then after learning what a brochure is
all about, the learners are now assigned to make
their own brochure.
As I observed the classroom, the teacher asks some
questions. The teacher called someone to answer
and the boy answered the question confidently but
his answer is wrong. All of his classmates are
laughing at him and they even say negative about

the boy. Hearing those from his classmates, the

boy sit down and I can see in his face that he was
hurt but he just hide it with his big smile
pretending that he is okay. When the teacher
noticed that the class is getting noisy, she ordered
the students to quiet and stop bashing their
classmate because everyone is not perfect.
Everyone commits mistakes.

Who can blame him? I think he is just smart and

thought of all his prior knowledge about the topic
and the boy expressed it all on his own words so
the student is getting all he answered from himself,
his prior about the topic.

on her so everybody is really listening. Hearing
those words from the student, the teacher asked
everyone what learning they get from the student’s
sharing, then after that most of the students raised
their hands to share what they’ve learn. In this
case, learning is not only emotional but also
intellectual.
