Reflection on a Lesson Plan Taught

Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow
Intern Name: Kirklyn Wilson

1. What steps did you go through to create this lesson? With whom did you talk, discuss, or edit your lesson?

I talked to Mrs. Callus on how I should go about teaching this lesson. Once we figuredout what strategies I
could use I then looked for a worksheet. The worksheet needed to show comprehension of what they read.

2. What parts of the instructional plan worked as you anticipated?

Luckily I’ve done other small reading groups so I knew what strategies worked well. The students love playing
the “popcorn” game while they are reading. It keeps them ready to read.

3. What, if any, adjustments need to be made once you began?

Just some behavioral adjustments! They kept getting off task when they were supposed to complete the
worksheet but they followed directions shortly after.

4. How well did you anticipate the materials needed? Did you realize you needed more or less as you taught
your lesson?

I anticipated the materials correctly. I printed out a few extra worksheets just in case. I came prepared.

5. To what degree do you feel that this lesson was a success? What evidence do you have for the success of
the lesson? (Hint: Student learning is the key to a lesson’s success!)

I think this lesson was a complete success. The evidence is shown in the worksheet with everyone getting a 6/7
or higher!

6. If you could do this lesson again with the same students, would you do anything differently? If so, what?

I would challenge the students to read it by themselves then complete the worksheet.

7. Any last comments/reflections about your lesson?

I enjoyed watching the students faces light up when they figured out an answer.
