Activities Report of Teaching Practice Program

My partner and I visited the SMKK Mater Amabilis early March to give
the permit letter from our faculty. We were warmly greeted by the school staff.
All of them were welcoming. We were escorted to the waiting area to meet the

9
principle. She was with another guest in her office. We explained about the
teaching practice program. She accepted our application.

We were told that it would be better if the school field experience or

teaching practice program is held at other times since so far, it has been held
during final exams. We politely agreed and accepted the criticism. We followed
up the suggestion to the faculty.

Due to the global pandemic, we were not able to get information as

detailed as we had hoped. Communication was limited, thus, we have made this
report based on the information that we could find from the internet. Since the
school web is under maintenance, we had to resort to other social medias of the
school. We gathered such information mostly from the school’s Youtube channel
and Instagram account.

We collected data from the school’s basic information, to the school’s

facilities and even pictures. Through a Youtube video, we were able to get
information about the school’s teachers and staffs.

Chapter IV

Conclusion and Suggestions

4.1 Conclusion
For the conclusion, the Teaching Practice is very useful for the 4th
semester students to gain some experiences and get to know how school works.
The Teaching Practice has fulfilled its vision to the students who had done the
observation. By doing the Teaching Practice Program, the students know more

10
about the system of a school, the organization structure of a school, the routines of
a school, the facilities of a school. The students would be able to know the
atmosphere of the school where they will have their Teaching Practice on the 7th
semester. By having the Teaching Practice Program, the Faculty of Teacher
Training and Education has fulfilled its mission on the way to create a
professional teacher.

4.2 Suggestions
The writer’s suggestion for the teaching languange laboratory that held the
School Field Experience, it will be better to have the Teaching Practice at another
time because the high school students have their preparation for the final exam.
Another suggestion is that perhaps seven days to have teaching practice is too
long. According to the writer’s experience, the amount of days given was
excessive. Perhaps, the data can be collected within 1 – 2 working days. Another
suggestion might be to make it possible for each school to accept more than two
students but four at the maximum. Therefore, decreasing the possibility of the
school field experience from being ineffective, yet also increasing the chances of
learning together. Apart from the writer’s suggestions, the teaching language
laboratory has done a very good job for the students of Faculty of Teacher
Training and Education.
