Subject : SCIENCE Time : 8:00-9:00; EZRA

Grading Period : First Quarter Section

I. OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson the students will be able to;
 To determine the different human activities that destroy natural resources.
 To perform different ways on how to take care the natural resources.
 To recognize the importance of taking good care of our natural resources.
The learners demonstrate an understanding of ;
A. Content Standards 1. How changes in the environment may affect species extinction
Make a multimedia presentation of a timeline of extinction of representative microorganisms, plants,
B. Performance Standards and animals.
 Relate species extinction to the failure of populations of organisms to adapt to abrupt
C. Learning Competencies/ changes in the environment. (S9LT-Ie-f-30)

IV. PROCEDURES Preliminary Activities:
Opening Prayer
Checking of Attendance
Checking of classroom cleanliness
A. Reviewing previous lesson Preliminaries:
-Start the session with a prayer
- Attendance is checked. WATCH Integration
- Remind the class of the rules: (keeping the classroom clean is strengthened, points and
praises are given to those who participate, urge everyone to listen and cooperate, questions and
inquiries and encouraged,)
- Girls and boys and also the LGBT students will participate in this meaningful lesson.
(Comprehensive Sexual Education Program)
- Collect the requirements.

B. Presenting the new lesson Show a video. (short clip) – 2 minutes

Video and Picture Analysis Questions: Computer Integration Instruction
 Define biodiversity? (English)
 How would you compare each picture? (English)
 Is there any problems of some pictures shown? Why? Or why not? (Values)
 Can you name some human activities that could destroy our natural resources? (English
and Values)
C. Establishing a purpose for the lesson The students will be given each task.
The students will do the following tasks: Differentiated based instruction
- Draw a deforestation. (TEAM 1)
- Define deforestation. (Team 1) Drawing and Presentation
- Create a jingle that talks about the effects of deforestation and write it in manila paper.
(Team 2) - Singing
- Create a dramatization that talks about wildlife depletion (Team 3) - Dramatization
- Define and write the effects of Water Pollution? (Team 4) - Newscasting
- Make a talk show about the harmful effects of Air Pollution? (Team 5) – Role Playing:
Talk show
- Make a jingle regarding how to protect our coastal marine life resources ? (Team 6) -
Singing
Each group will be given 15 minutes to finish their tasks. And after they will have a presentation of
their output using a rubric. They were also given 3 minutes to showcase their performance. After the
performance the teacher will encourage to do better in their presentation and also congratulates the
students who do a remarkable performance. The teacher will also give more motivations for the
students by saying “A good job and Congratulations! Keep it up!!”.
Rubric for Reporting:
Content – 10 pts.
Clarity – 10 pts.
Voice and confidence – 10 pts.
Accuracy – 10 pts.
Impact – 10 pts.
Total – 50 points
D. Discussing new concepts and
practicing skills. In any ecosystem, organisms need a balanced environment. A balanced ecosystem is one in which
all living and nonliving things are interacting harmoniously. If any part of the ecosystem is disturbed,
other parts will also be affected. What happens to a community when its species diversity is
reduced? Does loss of biodiversity affect an ecosystem’s ability to sustain the species that remain or
to perform certain functions that may contribute to the needs of that ecosystem?

A population is a group of living things within a certain area that are all of the same species. Several
different populations may be found in a community. A population of one kind may affect a population
of another kind within the community. A jungle has a greater amount of biological diversity, or
biodiversity, than a cornfield. Biodiversity refers to the variety of life in the area. (Reading Literacy
Progam)

E. Developing mastery - The principal causes of deforestation are illegal logging, kaingin farming, forest fires, and
conversion of agricultural lands to housing projects and typhoons.
- The effects of deforestation include soil erosion, floods, and depletion of wildlife resources.
- The major cause of wildlife extinction is loss of habitat.
- Coral reef destruction is caused by dynamite fishing, and muro-ami, while mangrove destruction is
caused by overharvesting and conversion of the are into their uses.
-In eutrophication, nutrients are washed away from the land to enrich bodies of water.
- Acid rain is a result of air pollution mostly from factories and motor vehicles
- Sustainable development means that a society should live under the capacity of the environment.
(Reading Literacy Program)

F. Finding practical application of Differentiate between the Human Activities and the Natural Phenomena and write on their manila
concepts and skills in daily living paper what are the things we should do to protect our Biodiversity. VENN DIAGRAM. Each group will
be given template and let them answer and collaborate each team. Let each team post their output
and report to the class.
