distinguish types of speech context and identify
social situations in which each speech context is
appropriate to use.”

“But first let us define Speech context.”

“Who would like to read the definition of Speech (A student reads the definition)
context? Yes go ahead.”

Speech Context - is about the environment where

the communication happens and how the message
is relayed during the process. By knowing the
speech context of a conversation, we can easily
understand the message and we can make
feedback clearly and appropriately.”

“Thank you so much.”

“Speech context refers to the situation or

environment and the circumstances in which

communication occurs”

“Let me ask you something, do you think speech (Students answer may vary)
context is important? Why?”

“Who else would like to give their insight?” (Students answer may vary)

“Thank you, very good. Your answers are all

correct.”

“Speech context is important because it helps you

connect and create relationship with the reader. it
helps you communicate your point of view clearly
making it easier to understand. it allows you and
others to be more creative.”

“We have several types of Speech context based

on how it was done or who are the people involved
in the conversation”

“The first type of Speech context is Intrapersonal”

“Before reading the definition, let us have a short

video about Intrapersonal.” (Students watches the video intently.)

(Inserts Video)
(Students answer may vary)
“Now, based on the video presented, what
characteristics of Intrapersonal is shown?”

“Based on the video, Intrapersonal is a (Students watches the video intently.)

conversation with one self. As seen in the video you
will notice how he was shocked when he blurted a
word so suddenly”

“Very Good students.”

(A student reads the definition)
“Now let us get to the definition or Intrapersonal.
Can someone please read it”

Intrapersonal - The communication that happens

within oneself. This appears that the source and the
receiver of the message is the speaker himself.

“Very well said”

“Intrapersonal Communication may be seen in

situations involving talking to or writing to oneself,
even thinking to oneself. The word “intra” denotes
“within”.”

“In here the speaker and the listener are one and
the same: you. You send the message to yourself
and you yourself receive that message.”
Example: Talking to oneself like repeating a song
heard while looking in the mirror, memorizing out
loud a dialogue in a play.

“Now, can you give me other examples of (Students answer may vary)
Intrapersonal?”

“Very good”

“The second type of Speech context is

Interpersonal”

“Before reading the definition, let us have a short (Students watches the video intently.)
video about Interpersonal.”

(Inserts Video)

“Now, based on the video presented, what (A student reads the definition)
characteristics of Interpersonal is shown?”

“Based on the video, Interpersonal is a

conversation between two people. In the video you (Students answer may vary)
will se the man as he shares his thoughts while the
woman only listens ”

““Now let us get to the definition or Intrapersonal.

”Who would like to read the definition of
Interpersonal? Yes go ahead.”

Interpersonal - The communication happens

between two or more persons. Depending on the (A student reads the definition)
relationship of these people, the communication
can be formal, casual, informal, or intimate.”

“Thank you so much”

“This communication involves two or more people.

The conversation can be formal or informal,
intimate or casual depending on the relationship
people involved have.”

Example: You offered feedback on the speech

performance of your classmate.

“Now, can you give more examples of (Students answer may vary)
Interpersonal?”

“Very good”

There are two types of interpersonal

communication:

“The first one is Dyad”

“Before reading the definition, let us have a short

video about Dyad.” (Students watches the video intently.)

(Inserts Video)
“Now, based on the video presented, what
characteristics of Dyad is shown?”
(Students answer may vary)

“Based on the video, Dyad is a conversation

between two people. In the video you will see the
both of them are exchanging words and not only the
sender sends a message.”
(Students watches the video intently.)
“Now let us get to the definition of Dyad. Who would
like to read the definition of Dyad? Yes go ahead.”

- Dyad Communication - communication that (A student reads the definition)

occurs between two people. It involves two
active participants who alternately function
as sender and receiver of the message

“In Dyad Communication there is one Speaker and

one Listener come together to exchange thoughts,
ideas, opinions, ‘and information.”

Example:
-You talked to your mother that you need an
illustration board for your activity tomorrow.
-Your doctor asks about what you want to consult it.

“Can you also give me examples of Dyad (Students answer may vary)
Communication?”

“Very good”

“Before reading the definition, let us have a short (Students watches the video intently.)
video about Small Group.”

(Inserts Video)

“Now, based on the video presented, what (Students answer may vary)
characteristics of Small Group is shown?”

“Based on the video, these group of people are

sharing some ideas or also known as
brainstorming. They consist of not more than twelve
person. ”

““Now let us get to the definition or Intrapersonal.

”Who would like to read the definition of
Interpersonal? Yes go ahead.”

- Small Group - This refers to communication

that involves at least three but not more than
twelve people engaging in a face-to-face
interaction to achieve a desired goal.

“Small group can consist of three but not more than

twelve people are part of the conversation. This
type of communication is present during
brainstorming or collaborating with other people.”

Example:

-Your father told the whole family that the trip to

the tropical depression.

“Can you also give me examples of Small Group?”

“Very good”

“Before we proceed, Any questions so far” “None ma’am. Yes ma’am!”

“Are you able to follow?”

“Next from the list, we have Public

Communication.”

“Before reading the definition, let us have a short

video about Public Communication.”

(Inserts Video)

“Now, based on the video presented, what

characteristics of Interpersonal is shown?”

“Based on the video, in Public Communication there

is a wide range of listeners or audience and in this
type speech context the only one who is sharing
ideas is the speaker.”
(A student reads the definition)
““Now let us get to the definition, who would like to
read the definition of Public Communication? Yes
go ahead.”

Public Communication - is different from Dyadic

or Small Group Communication in that one
Speaker addresses many Listeners, collectively
known as an Audience. There is no interchanging
of the Speaker and Listener roles.

“Thank you so much”

“In Public Communication the speech is well

prepared, the speaker is dressed appropriately,
and the listeners are set to listen to the message.”

"Unlike in interpersonal and small group, the

channels are more exaggerated. The voice is
louder and the gestures are more expansive
because the audience is bigger.”
Example:
-You deliver a graduation speech to your batch.
-You participate in a declaration, oratorical, or
debate contest watched by a number of people.

“Can you give me more examples of Public (Students answer may vary)
Communication?”

“Very good”
“Before we proceed, Any questions so far” “Yes ma’am!”
“Are you able to follow?”

“Lastly, we have Mass Communication”

“Before reading the definition, let us have a short

video about Interpersonal.”
(Students watches the video intently.)
(Inserts Video)
(Students answer may vary)
“Now, based on the video presented, what
characteristics of Interpersonal is shown?”

“Based on the video, we can see that a newscaster

is broadcasting a weather report news. This
information can reach worldwide audience, that is
why it is called Mass Communication.”
(Students answer may vary)
““Now let us get to the definition of Mass
Communication. Can you please read it, yes go
ahead.”

Mass Communication - This refers to

communication that takes place through television,
radio, newspapers, magazines, books, billboards,
Types of media.

“Thank you so much.”

“This happens when television, social media,

newspaper, magazines, and the likes were used as
channels to relay the message.”

Example:
-A weather forecaster informs the audiences about
the location of the typhoon.
(Students answer may vary)
“Can you also give me examples of Mass
Communication?”

“Very good”

F. Generalization
