Let us have a quick review. Yesterday, we
talked about Rhetorical Questions. “A rhetorical question is
asked to create a dramatic

effect or to make a point
rather than to get an answer.

A rhetorical question is a special kind of

question that is asked not because you want
an answer, but to make a point or to get
people thinking. It's like asking a question,
but you already know the answer or you
don't really expect anyone to answer. It's a
way to make your point more interesting. Student A: “Ma’am, it

Very good!
Overall, rhetorical questions serve as a
powerful device to engage, persuade, and
provoke thought, making communication more
dynamic and impactful.

Marvelous!

It’s very evident that you understood our

previous topic.
(Students start reading)

C. MOTIVATION
Okay. Now, before we proceed to our next
topic, I have here an example of piece and I
want you to read this.

(Teacher distributed the copies)

Alright! Please pass it backward.

So, class I want you to read silently.
Reading starts now.

Okay. Thank you so much for reading.

Now, kindly pass the paper here in front. “It’s all about ‘My Dream for the Future’

What have you noticed or observed about the

piece that you read?

What is it all about?

“no ma’am”

Because, I need to prepare my story

Very good! If I’m asking you to make a story before presenting it to my classmates.
about your dream for the future, would you do
that on the spot in front of your classmate?

Why?

Okay, so I didn't give you any time to prepare,

which is why you couldn't come up with a “yes ma’am
story on the spot.

If I ask you to create a story using that topic, “yes ma’am
and you will deliver it by next week, would
you be able to do that?

There's a significant difference between

having preparation for a specific topic and not
having any prior preparation. I have another
activity. I would like you to group yourselves
into three.

D. Activities
Alright, class, here's another fun activity for
you.

( The students start grouping)

Okay, everyone, we're going to form three

groups. Count 1 to 3.

Now, I have three folders with four images

each. Your task is to look at the pictures in
your folder and create 3-5 sentences that
will connect to the pictures.

Once you've done that, one person from

each group will be presenting your story on
the spot while facing the other group.
(Group 1 perform their task)
You have 5 minutes to do that.

Is there any question? (Group 2 perform their task)

E. Analysis
(Group 1 perform their task)
The group will present their work

Let’s begin with the group 1 It helped us to develop our thinking

skills

Job well done Group 1. How about Group 2?

Very good Group 2. Lets proceed to Group 3.
“Yes ma’am”

Great Job class! How does it feel when you

construct sentences from the images?
“a speech ma’am”

That’s great! You developed your critical

skills, and you used your creativity to make a
story.`

Have you learned from this activity?

Job well done class.

Do you have an idea what would be our

lesson for today?
“Public Speaking ma’am”

Correct! It’s all about speech.

F. Abstraction

So, class, our lesson this morning is all about

the speech. (Teacher will show her visual
about the title of her topic)

Okay. (Students read the objectives))

Please read the title.
Just the title only, class.

“Public speaking”

Very good!
So, our lesson for today is all about public
speaking.

But before that, we have an objective.

We have three objectives.
I want you to please read it all together.

“The act or process of making a

At the end of the lesson, the students are speech in public”
expected to:
A. define public speaking
B. differentiate prepared and impromptu
“An effective way of the oral
speech
C. create their own public speech communication with an audience”

Now, class, we can achieve these objectives

if you are going to listen and participate in our
class discussion.

Now, let us define first what is Public

Speaking. Who wants to read the definition.

Thank you so much, _____, Now, who else?

“Prepared speech ma’am”

Thank you.
Now, class, as we all know, public speaking is
an act, or it is a speech delivered by
someone. “Prepared Speech- the speaker

So, class, in public speaking, there are two
forms.

who wants to read number one? ________

Prepared speech
Very good, what is a prepared speech?
Can you please read the definition?

“memorization ma’am”

Thank you.
In a prepared speech, the speaker is given
time to rehearse, research, and memorize
their presentation, allowing ample preparation
before delivering it to the audience.

Now, in prepared speech class,

It includes the memorized speech, and the
manuscript speech.

When we say memorized speech, from the

word memorize, what does it involve?

In the memorized speech class, you deliver a “no ma’am

speech purely from your memory, without any
cue cards. It relies on your ability to recall and
recite the content without external aid.

Example of memorized speech are, stage “Speeches given by news

performances, business presentation, and anchors and broadcasters on
graduation ceremonies. television ma’am”

Now, let's discuss the manuscript speech. In
this type of speech, you read a written text to
the audience, similar to how hosts in shows
like Showtime or Eat Bulaga read their lines.
It serves as an example of a manuscript
speech because it involves reading the
content directly to the audience.

written scripts while delivering the news.

Who wants to give another example for a

prepared speech class?
You _________

Very good, ______. _____ said that one

example of that is the actors and actresses
usually memorize their scripts before acting in “no ma’am”
television shows. By completely learning their
lines and rehearsing, they can deliver their
performances confidently and accurately,
bringing the characters and story to life on
screen.

his governance. That's what we call to as a

Do you have any questions?

We knew the prepared speech. Now, let's
discuss impromptu speeches. Who would like
to read out the definition? Yes, __________.

(The Miss Gal International ma’am)

Answer may vary

Great job, ____. In impromptu speeches, the

speaker has no time to prepare, which sets it
apart from prepared speeches where there is
ample time for preparation. However, in
impromptu speeches, there is no time to ( Answer may vary)
prepare. It's similar to an ambush interview,
like when a teacher suddenly asks you a
question. That's what we call an ambush
interview.

So, who can provide me with another

example?

Okay, the Miss Gal International.

And what is that all about, _________?

Excellent job, _________. One example of an

impromptu speech is the question and
answer portion in pageants. Contestants are
asked questions by the host without any prior
preparation, making it an impromptu situation.

So, that's one example. Another example? “okey ma’am”

Okay, ____________

Great job, __________. Here's another

example of an impromptu situation: when “prepared speech ma’am”
actors and actresses are interviewed by
reporters without any prior preparation.
(Teacher will point on the visual aids.)
This is the prepared speech, which requires
preparation. In contrast, the impromptu

speech does not involve any preparation.
That's the main difference between the two.

Now that you have learned the difference

between the impromptu and prepared speech “Impromptu speech ma’am”
classes, it's time for you to differentiate them.
Okay, pay attention. First, I will ask someone
to provide their answer.

Okay, ____________. I will give a situation,

and you need to identify if it is a prepared
speech or an impromptu speech. Alright?
“Impromptu speech ma’am”

Okay, ______.
You were invited to speak before
commencement ceremony.
What form of speech is that?

Very good.
It's a prepared speech. “prepared speech ma’am”
Good job on that, ________.

Alright, over here in the front. Alright,

___________. Here's the scenario, You were
unexpectedly asked to speak in an ambush
interview. What form of speech is that?

Impromptu speech, very good.

Attention, everyone at the back. Oh,

________.
Alright, __________. Here's the situation: Impromptu speech ma’am
You were asked to share your knowledge
about a topic without any prior preparation.
What form of speech is that?

Okay, right here. ________, please stand. A

youth group asked you to be a resource
person. What form of speech is that?

Okay, very good.

It is a prepared speech.

Good job.

Final scenario, everyone.

Okay, __________ in the center.
__________, here's the last situation. During
a meeting, you are suddenly asked to share
your job experiences. What type of speech is
that?

Very good, _________.

Impromptu speech.

Class, let's give yourselves a round of

applause with three claps for your excellent
participation and understanding.

Great job, everyone! You have successfully

learned and distinguished between prepared
speeches and impromptu speeches. I must
say, I'm thoroughly impressed with your
understanding.
