20. Battery Limit for BF-3 Water Facilities

An area bounded by coordinates A+6878.00/B+1507.00 and

A+7039.00/B+1664.00 has been indicated in the tender for locating
the various facilities for the blast furnace water system. The tenderer
may note the following regarding the above area:

a) Change in the alignment of the railway track shown in the north-

east corner of the area. This track will be used for transfer of hot
metal from BF-3 to SMS-2.

b) In future, VSP may construct a fly-over on the road along

A+6865.00, west of the area proposed for the BF-3 water system.
In such a case, a new 7 m wide road along A+6898.00 will be
constructed by VSP. The existing road along B+1675.00 will be
connected to this road instead of the existing connection to road
along A+6865.00. To keep provision for the future fly-over and
road, Tenderer shall locate all facilities and services east of the
future road along A+6898.00. In view of the restriction in space
due to the provision for future road, the battery limit on the
southern side has been shifted to B+1475.00

III. STOCK HOUSE

1. The bulk density of sinter to be considered as 1.60 t/m 3 in place

of 1.8 t/m 3 .
Answer: 1.8t/m3 is popular index in China. CSIDI may use 1.6t/m3,
which makes sinter bin capacity change necessary.
2. a) The storage times indicated for sinter, ore are to be
rechecked.
Answer: already rechecked. In case of 1.6t/m3, sinter bin storage time
is 10.72H. Therefore, each sinter bin must be 1.0m higher for 70m3
capacity increase in order to provide 12H storage time (calculated on
basis of 7150t daily output).
b) Basis of storage hour determination for coke is to be clearly
indicated.
Answer: uniform stockhouse level results in coke bin storage time >8H.
The current coke bin (+60mm) storage time is 20.4H, coke bin
(+25~60mm) storage time is 9H, daily output as 7150t.
Because stockhouse discharge conveyors will have uniform level
(28.000m), it results in coke bin (+25~60mm) storage time>8H.
There are 3 coke bins (+60mm) and one bin can be cancelled. The bin
capacity can be changed from 3×450m3 to 2×450m3, while storage
time from 20.4H to 13.55H accordingly.
c) Indicate the storage time for nut coke and additives.
Answer: nut coke bin storage time is 21H.
Additives are for adjustment and have long storage time.
Additives bin (2kg/t.Fe, 1.6t/m3) storage time is 939.9H.
Additives bin (6kg/t.Fe, 1.6t/m3) storage time is 313.29H.
Additives bin (6kg/t.Fe, 2.2t/m3) storage time is 430.77H.
3. Please indicate the procedure regarding separation of +60 mm
coke & -60 +25 mm coke.
Answer: designed for separation before.
4. Nut coke is not contributing in coke layer thickness , so
calculation to be revised accordingly.
Answer: since nut coke sometimes is not recovered in actual
production, we normally do not deduct nut coke weight for coke batch
calculation.

10. Will there be any change in the cycle time with centre coke (+60
mm) charging separately if parallel hoppers are put instead of
serial hoppers? If so indicate the same with all reasons and
calculations.
Answer: in case of mixed charge of cut coke and ore, BF top charging
availability is changed, see kt2006.035LT-11-1-top sequencing diagram
1 (to be furnished later) .
In case of separate charge of l arge coke and small coke, coke batch is
changed is changed, and BF top charging availability is changed , see

European BF, for 15~20% pellet, BF edge temperature fluctuation is

greatly increased; for 50% pellet, the fluctuation rate is over 150℃/min
while for 100% sinter 77℃/min. Therefore, the effect on BF profile
from increase of pellet percentage is to reduce bosh angle. For less
thermal impact and to make bosh linings and staves far from high
temperature zone, it is normally to reduce bosh angle. In north
America and UK, BF bosh angle is usually 74°~79° with pellet charge.
Hoogovens No.7 BF (Vu=4540m3) bosh angle is 78.45° with increase
of D/d value. Kobe BF profile is not changed much and they take
center coke charge to make BF center loose.
For this BF, bosh angle is 77°19’11” and center coke charge is
allowed for loose BF center and satisfaction of 50% pellet.
12. Please indicate the movement time of burden at throat region so
that the furnace can sustain the interrupted charging during
full blast of the furnace.
Answer: In normal ore batch and normal productivity, each charge of
ore + coke is ~1.555m thick and one day needs 111.3 charges. Then,
burden theoretically passes the throat at speed of
=(111.3x1.555)/24/60=0.12m/min.
13. Please indicate whether the replacement of distribution chute is
possible with the help of outrigger crane.

1. Heat generator to be designed for 100% requirement .

Answer: The design is in line with the requirement . that is, one (1) dry
gas generator satisfying 100% gas demand of one (1) coal pulverizer.
2. Pulverised coal storage capacity shall be 750 ton.
DANIELI Answer
3. Magnetic separator and metal detection to be provided in the
raw coal conveyors.
Answer: Magnetic separator and metal detection should be set on the
first belt conveyer in a conveyer system, the conveyer in MCC ’s scope
is the last one, so, it isn’t necessary to set it.
4. However, CO monitoring also to be considered in addition to
oxygen analyser.
Answer:It’s unnecessary to add CO monitoring to oxygen analyser.
1. For the baker, it needs to have a strict control of volume ratio of gas
to air to ensure complete combustion of gas. In so doing, there is
almost no CO contained in the generated dried gas and no impact on
safety operation of the system.
2. Since the entire coal pulverization system is an induced system, the
residual CO in fume will be diluted and vented into the atmosphere by
equipment’s air leakage. So, it’s no impact on safety operation of
system.
3. Since the coal powder bin is enclosed, the coal may carry small CO
into the bin. Under such a circumstance, CO content is higher. So, at
coal powder bin is installed CO detection and alarm device. Still, CO in
this case can be discharged into atmosphere by bin top deduster.
However, if the Client insist on adding such CO detection and alarm
device to oxygen analyzer, it can be done this way.
5. Indicate whether individual lance control have been provided in
the pulverised coal distributor.

X. GAS CLEANING PLANT

1. Refer clause No. 2.7.1 of page 54 of 250 – Elaborate the fast

water seal and electrical metal sealing system.
1. To cut off the external gas, first should turn off the motorized
butterfly valve at the outlet side, and then fill water into the water seal
till it full of water, the height of seal water is 3000mmH2O.
2. The water supply and drainage of the water seal
The elevated tank should store 100m3 industry water at
peacetime, and set a water level measurement, while the water level is
very low in the tank, it need to fill water in the tank to ensure the high
level of water.
To cut off the gas, first it need to turn off the motorized butterfly
valve, and then turn on the DN350 motorized valve to push the water
in the elevated tank into the water seal, the filling time is about 5mins.
Turn off the DN350 motorized valve while the water seal is full of
water, and then supply water of small flow by means of turn on the
DN50 motorized valve, meanwhile open the DN50 motorized valve on
the drainpipe to make sure that the small flow drainage equals to
supply, this is convenient for workers to make sure that there is water
in the water seal, (to avoid the water vaporize during long time of shut
off, and ensure the water sealing height is 3000mm), the water will be
drained to the plash.
When the water level in the elevated tank is too lowly, to recharge
water by means of turn on the circulate pump in the plash.
Discharge the water in the water seal to plash while the water seal is
stopped, and then turn on the motorized butterfly valve at the outlet to
overpass the gas.
Under normal produce process, the lowest hydrocele of the water
seal is discharged to plash.
When the hydrocele in the plash exceed a certain point, the pump will
discharge water.

such situation can be handled in absence of such pump.
Please review and include suitable pump in your scope.
Answer: There are three make-up pumps, one work and the other two
standby, in such situation mentioned above, all of the fast pumps
can be put into use. If emergency situation such as hose bursting
happen, maybe there is no enough soft water in soft make-up water
pipe, so even there is fast fill pump in the system, it is no use. In
China, in this situation, we use clear water or industry water
instead of soft water for this system.
