The Taker lifestyle is one of endless destruction that continues to destroy more and more
every day that we live like we are gods. As we continue to live the way we are, our Earth is
polluted, stripped of her resources, and all of her life forms are hurt. Our cars and other
technology produce CO2 that strips away the ozone layer and allows the climate to change every
day. Resources are being taken from the land and the animals that need them, thus killing them.
We only care about ourselves and because of that we are destroying predators, taking what they
consume and ruining food webs all over the world. Destruction of our beautiful Earth continues
every day, but it is not too late to stop what we are doing and undo the Taker lifestyle we have
constructed. Humans can learn to be healthy Takers and live together with all of the other life
A healthy Taker is a Taker that does not live like a Taker or a hunter-gather, they are the
happy medium between the two. Healthy Takers care about other life, and not just themselves. If
we became healthy Takers we would not lose the way we are living, it would just become
greener and less toxic to all other life forms. Humans would reduce carbon emissions, control the
population and making it decline at a steady rate as humanly as possible, and take less from the
environment. Reducing carbon emissions would have to be done to prevent the burning off of the
ozone layer. The population needs to go down in order to make room for other forms of life on
this planet and use less resources. If we keep taking from the environment like we are, there will
be nothing left for those who come after us. We need to share the food we produce with those
who cannot get it and consume only what we need to live a healthy life. Doing these things is
what will make us healthy Takers environmentally, but not completely healthy.
The first step in becoming healthy Takers is changing humanity’s mindset and stop
listening to mother culture. As a whole we treat what is ours however we want and because we
think the Earth is ours we will never treat it with the respect that is needed to live peacefully on
it. In our minds we are focused on race, religion, power, and political background. For us to
change our minds we need to grow up as a whole and realize (or be taught) that we were all
created differently and will never all be the same. Along with growing up, people need to learn
(or be taught) that humans are not the only living thing on this planet and we need to share the
planet. “Diversity is a survival factor for the community itself. A Community of a hundred
million species can survive almost anything short of total global catastrophe” (Ishmael, 130).
Humans need to realize that for life to survive, we must protect other species not destroy them.
Changing someone's mind set is not something that is easily done, but there has been
research showing that over time we slowly become like those we spend time with. To start the
movement, the people that have been told what is happening would have to act on what was said
and explain that we are not exempt from the food chain laws. Not everyone’s mind needs to be
changed at once, only 51% of people need to realize what we are doing is wrong and will only
kills us in the end. If 51% of people can realize what is wrong then we can make changes. When
51% of all people realize that something needs to be done that is when we can start the next part
of the plan.
The second step in becoming healthy Talkers is figuring out what a healthy Taker looks
like and actually is. In Ishmael there are Takers and Leavers, both are on completely different
ends of the scale. Takers are humanity now and Leavers are hunter gathers. There is no way that
we can all going back to being Leavers, because that would be too big of a mindset change. We
as a whole (not just the rich, the white, or the politicians can do this alone) need to find the
middle ground that is a healthy Taker. Everyone needs to have a say because only then can we
something that all healthy Takers must not do when pertaining to the environment. Healthy
Takers must not kill predators or deny predators food, act like gods and treat the world as their
own, and lastly take everything from the environment. If predators are killed then humans are
ensuring not just their own, but everyone’s demise. When humans act like gods we end up
populating the word more than it can hold and over using resources. Finally we cannot take
everything from the environment because when we do we pollute the Earth and kill others that
may also need to use those resources. Humans as a whole need to find what a healthy Takers
If we are to become healthy Takers, then the third step in this plan is to develop a plan for
becoming a healthy Taker. Those who supported and tried to figure out what a healthy taker
looks like now need to come to terms with how they are going to change the world and a great
deal of people may not like what is going to happen to the world. The plan must be supported by
at least 51% of people. For the plan to work it has to be as humane as possible. To some
population control may not be humane, but it would be necessary if we are to quit being Takers.
Culture. Mother culture has always told us what to do and we have listened, now is the time to
stop because she has been killing us ever so slowly. What we need to do is reduce carbon
emissions, control the population and making it decline at a steady rate as humanly as possible,
and take less from the environment. As mentioned earlier, these are what makes a Taker healthy
environmentally and will allow us to become the best versions of ourselves. If we do not do
controlling the population and making it decline at a steady rate as humanly as possible, and
taking less from the environment. We would have to put up things like a carbon tax to promote
being greener, put up laws saying how many kids you can have (two to keep the population from
going up and one to lower it), and eat healthier. Acting on the plan is what would make us
healthy Takers. Doing all four of these steps may take many years to complete, but they are what
will help us survive and live harmoniously with the rest of the world.
As time goes on and the plan has been enacted, many things may change. Certain
countries may have to do more drastic things to lower their populations, such as telling people
they have to leave their home country. We may find a fully renewable resource that does not
produce carbon, thus being able to lift the carbon tax. Humans may start to like being healthier
and with the population down may be able to produce a little junk food every now and again.
There are too many variables to know at this moment what would happen, but as long as people
stick to the plan life will get better for everyone on the planet, human or not.
The path to becoming healthy Takers environmentally will not be easy, but by following
these four steps we will be able to. Life for everyone will become better and healthier. It may
take a while to change peoples minds and get them to quit listening to Mother Culture, but
nobody said it would be easy to change. We should not become healthy Takers for animals, we
