Procedures:
Introduction (20 minutes): I will start the lesson by asking the students what they know
by each branch. Then I have a game for them, but they have to come in front of the class one by
one to play. It’s a way so the children can interact with one another. After I explain the game, I
will put all boys on one side of the classroom and the girls on the other. They will be going
against each other.

Teacher Directed (15 minutes): In this portion we will start by talking about what we
already know about the three branches. I will ask each student to draw a picture on how you
think the branches look. Then they will be watching a YouTube video, that shows the different
parts of the branches and the houses they are in.

Collaborative (15 minutes): In this section I will have each student download a game
called Branches of Power. It gives them instructions to follow on the iPad.

Independent Digital (15 minutes): During this portion of the lesson the students will
work on a matching worksheet. It will teach the kids about each branch of government. The
students will need to complete the worksheet before playing the game.

Closure (20 minutes): At the end of the lesson all of the students will play a game call
Kahoot. The student with the highest score will receive extra 5 points on the test. They will all
use iPads to play the game. Kahoot is a game to understand the concepts of the three branches
of government. I might make them work in groups or make it an individual game.

Kids Educational Video:
This YouTube video is an amazing video that teaches students about how the laws are made.
Each branch has a special job in the law-making process. The legislative branch makes the laws,
the United States Congress runs it. It introduces bills but it can’t become a law until it improves
by the executive branch. It also efforts laws so that the people will follow them. The Judicial
branch made up courts and judges, the supreme court the highest. It a mini quiz at the end of the
video to self-everyone was listening.
Branches of Power App:
This app is useful to the students because it allows the students to analyze the structure, function
of the legislative, executive, and judicial branches. It simulates the way separation of powers and
checks and balances of limit government. It introduces bills and pass laws out the Congress, you
can also pick your own leaders for each branch.
Worksheet:
This worksheet is and live worksheet where it will tell you what you have wrong. You have to
match up the cut-out pictures and pace it in the right branch. Each branch got the same questions
such is who, when and where each branch is from.
Kahoot game:
Everyone heard of Kahoot, most teachers always play this before any test. Kahoot is a
great game to get the students to interact with one another. It’s a game based on student’s
knowledge about what they have learned. I will create a game myself so that the students will
know what to look for. This game will be and review quiz for the test the children have to take.
