VIII. DESCRIPTION AND JUSTIFICATION

A community's essence, which is the combination of its identity, purpose, and culture, is

dynamic. It is influenced or shaped in part by what the community knows. Extension, through

its educational programs, plays a large part in creating socio-economic development in the

Community.

Thus, The DFCAMCLP thru the passion and commitment of an exemplary educator and public

servant in the person of OIC president Ms. Eugenia V. Guerra, and the invigorated

resurgence of the College Research and Community Extension Office, envisions to play a

significant role in the knowledge-creation process that will be instrumental in shaping

communities.

Within this context, the office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs in collaboration with

the College Research and Extension Office was able to come up with 3 three integrated and

collaborative Institutional extension programs that will be implemented starting the school year
Dr. Filemon C. Aguilar Memorial College of Las Pinas

2020-2021. These programs include The IMELDA or the Integrated Management of the

Environment and Learning Advocacies. BASE the Business Assistance and Service

Education and the APRIL the Advancement Program for the Re-Integration of People into

Livelihood.

In the first quarter of the school year, the focus of Dr. Filemon C. Aguilar Memorial College of

Las Pinas Community Extension Services Office through its IMELDA program ( Integrated

management Of the Environment through Learning Advocacies ) is for the initial launching of

the Barangay Talon 3 ICT Training project. This in partnership with the Barangay Talon 3

unit and the Barangay SK organization. The primary intention of the project is to equip the

residents of Barangay Talon 3 with the skills in the use of digital technologies to support the

community, reduce isolation, bridge the digital divide, create employment opportunities, and to

reach out the out of school and vulnerable youth.

DFCAMCLP shall establish partnerships and relationships with multi-stakeholders, including

the local government of Las Pinas City, private business organizations, community-based

organizations, and the DFCAMCLP IT campus in delivering technology training in the adopted

community, thereby making the vision a reality.

The DFCAMCLP Community Extension Office shall provide the management and operational

skills and capacity, in supporting sustainable projects and initiatives in uplifting communities

by “bringing ICT to the communities”.

This initiative brings into reality the concerns of national and local governments to make ICT

training (Basic Microsoft office, internet, and email) accessible to all communities. This

initiative also envisages skilling the youth, the unemployed, women, people with disabilities,

thereby making them employable... Another salient feature of this program is alleviating

unemployment by networking with recruitment agencies, the Las Pinas Public Employment

Services Office, government agencies, and businesses, thus becoming an enabler for job

creation.
