I. HISTORY
In 1970, Data Center College of the Philippines (DCCP)
began its venture in Davao City with limited resources - a
few classrooms, 1 computer room, and a small reception area.
Initially, the college provided training for keypunching
operations, basic computer concepts, and some programming
languages for the mainframe computers. Ten years later, in
1980, DCCP was reborn in the City of Pines, Baguio City. At
the same time, they acquired several units of SHARP MZ-80A,
TRS-80 microcomputers and APPLE II PC, and their curricula
were reoriented to offer courses for these machines.
Additionally, they began offering software to take full
advantage of the microcomputers' potential.
In 1985, the operation expanded in Baguio City and they
constructed additional rooms to house their new acquisitions
of APPLE II and IBM compatible microcomputers. The software
department now offered the latest word-processing,
spreadsheet, and desktop publishing courses, and also
special courses and seminars such as the Kids Komputer Kamp
(KKK) for elementary and high school students, and the
Literacy Program for professionals.
Riding the momentum of the success in Baguio City, DCCP
embarked on its first substantial expansion in Northern
Luzon in 1985 when its set-up and began operating a school
in Naga City. The following year, the school in La Union
opened, while Dagupan City followed in 1990. In 1987, the
school in Laoag City started its operations and is now the
flagship of the Data Center College of the Philippines
educational system. In 1995, buoyed up by the increase in
enrollment, DCCP began operating the school at Calisterio
Building in Bangued, Abra and the following year relocated
DATA CENTER COLLEGE OF THE PHILIPPINES

to a newer and more accessible building. In 1997, the school

in Tamag Vigan, City was inaugurated and it remains one of
the centers of excellence in the province. Our school in La
Trinidad, Benguet was established in 1999-2000 and operated
for a few years. We then decided to join the school in
Baguio City, located along Bonifacio Read which was
considered a more modern building. This decision proved to
be successful, and now our school is one of the top
destinations for students wishing to pursue tertiary
education in the Cordillera region.
Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) is
a four-year course offered by the Data Center College of the
Philippines (DCCP). The program focuses on the development
of core IT skills and knowledge such as problem-solving,
programming, hardware and software, networking, database
management, and web and mobile application development. The
program also covers topics such as project management,
system analysis, and information security. The BSIT
curriculum also includes general education and elective
courses to provide students with a well-rounded education.
Students may pursue a specialization in any of the core IT
areas, such as software engineering, network security, data
science, or mobile development. Upon completion of the
program, graduates will be prepared for a variety of IT-
related careers.

V. STRATEGIES
Based on their goals and objectives, the following
strategies will help the BSIT Department:

1. Establish a mentorship program for faculty members to

help them upgrade their qualifications.
2. Implement student-centered learning and assessment
methods.
3. Identifying and developing resources: This includes
identifying and acquiring resources such as
instructional materials, equipment, and technologies to
support instruction.
4. Developing curriculum and instruction: This includes
developing courses that are aligned with the
department’s goals and objectives, and providing
instruction that is effective and engaging.
5. Evaluating performance: This includes assessing student
learning outcomes and making necessary adjustments to
instruction and curriculum.
6. Implementing professional development: This includes
providing faculty and staff with training and
development opportunities to enhance their skills and
knowledge.
7. Encourage students to pursue life-long learning through
extra-curricular activities, events and seminars.
8. Encourage students to be actively involved in
professional organizations and activities to gain
exposure to the latest trends and technologies.
DATA CENTER COLLEGE OF THE PHILIPPINES
Brgy. Ubbog-Lipcan Bangued, Abra

9. Provide regular seminars and workshops on topics

related to the objectives of the BSIT program.
10.Create a safe and supportive learning environment where
students can freely ask questions and learn from their
peers.
11.Encourage students to participate in conferences and
workshops related to their field of study to gain a
better understanding of the industry.
12.Develop and implement assessment strategies to track
student progress and ensure that the desired learning
outcomes are achieved.

VI. ACTION PLAN

Below are the steps you should take to put the
strategies into action.

1. Establish a mentorship program for faculty members to

help them upgrade their qualifications.
- This can be achieved by identifying and recruiting
experienced faculty members from other institutions
or from the industry. These faculty members can
mentor the faculty members of the BSIT program by
providing them with professional development
opportunities and guidance on best practices.
2. Implement student-centered learning and assessment
methods.
- This can be achieved by designing courses that focus
on active learning and engaging students in the
learning process. The assessment methods should also
be designed to measure student learning outcomes and

provide feedback to both the students and the

faculty members.

3. Identifying and developing resources.

- This can be achieved by conducting a needs
assessment to identify the resources needed to
support the BSIT program. The resources can include
instructional materials, equipment, and
technologies. The resources should be acquired and
made available for faculty and students.
4. Developing curriculum and instruction.
- This can be achieved by developing courses that are
aligned with the department’s goals and objectives
and providing instruction that is effective and
engaging. The curriculum should also be designed to
ensure that students gain the necessary knowledge
and skills to be successful in their chosen field.
5. Evaluating performance.
- To implement this strategy, school administrators
should first create a system to track student
learning outcomes. This could include assessments
such as tests and surveys that measure student
understanding and progress. Once the data has been
collected, administrators should analyze the results
to identify areas of improvement. They should then
create an action plan to address any deficiencies,
such as adjusting instruction or curriculum,
providing additional resources or support, or
providing additional professional development for
teachers.
6. Implementing Professional Development.
DATA CENTER COLLEGE OF THE PHILIPPINES
Brgy. Ubbog-Lipcan Bangued, Abra

- This can be achieved by providing faculty with

training and development opportunities such as
attending seminars and workshops, or taking online
courses.
7. Encourage students to pursue life-long learning through
extra-curricular activities, events and seminars.
- This can be achieved by developing and organizing
extra-curricular activities such as student clubs,
field trips, and other educational activities to
encourage students to pursue life-long learning.
8. Encourage students to be actively involved in
professional organizations and activities.
- This can be achieved by encouraging students to be
involved in professional organizations by providing
them with access to resources, networking
opportunities, and other activities.
9. Provide regular seminars and workshops on topics
related to the objectives of the BSIT program.
- This can be achieved by developing and implementing
seminars and workshops on topics related to the BSIT
program, such as programming languages, software
development, and computer networks.
10. Create a safe and supportive learning environment where
students can freely ask questions and learn from their
peers.
- This can be achieved by establishing clear
expectations of respect and collaboration in the
classroom. Making sure all students know what is
expected of them in terms of behavior, including how
to interact with each other and the teacher.

11. Encourage students to participate in conferences and

workshops related to their field of study to gain a
better understanding of the industry.
- This can be achieved by offering mentorship and
advice to students regarding the events they should
attend, and provide guidance in preparing for the
event and making the most out of it. They can also
encourage faculty members to attend events and share
their experience with the students.
12. Develop and implement assessment strategies to track
student progress and ensure that the desired learning
outcomes are achieved.
- This can be achieved by developing and implementing
assessment strategies to track student progress and
ensure that the desired learning outcomes are
achieved. Like establishing which skills, knowledge,
and attitudes you would like to assess in order to
determine student progress.
