An art exhibition apps

Idea & Problem

There are a lot of fun and interesting exhibitions happening around the world, no matter big or small one. But
due to the lack of publicity and also the popularity of the exhibitor or artist, some of the exhibitions did not
reach out to a bigger crowd. Furthermore, sometimes when we travel to a country all of sudden we feel like
going to some exhibition but we do not know how to start finding, and we will end up not going.

Goal
Create apps that gather all different kinds of art exhibitions around the world, have some basic information
about the exhibition and also the ability to purchase tickets for the exhibition via the apps in one place.
(painting, art installation, concept exhibition, fine art)

THING TO RESEARCH
How this pandemic affect the exhibition
The pandemic-imposed quarantine has become a matter of deep concern for those who either manage or are
personally dedicated to preserving old masters’ paintings or contemporary works of art and ensuring that as
many people as possible can see them and enjoy them. It is clear that they are financially harmed by lockdown
measures that restrict public access to museum institutions and other cultural venues.

The COVID-19 pandemic has meant there are many issues that have gotten high priority and visibility in the
public domain, and rightfully so. But the problem of access to museums and other cultural venues and the art
form the pandemic may inspire has not.

A study by UNESCO and the International Council of Museums (ICOM) found that nearly 13% of the more
than 85,000 museums worldwide had shut down.

Typically, spring is a thrilling time for the global design industry, the calendar crammed with high-profile fairs,
exhibitions, and more. But as COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, accelerates and continues to
wreak havoc around the world, the usually active season is taking a turn. With health and safety as the ultimate
priorities, some of the most anticipated industry events have been forced to reschedule or downright cancel.
Here is the current status of many of them, which we will continue to update regularly.

Galleries’ sales dropped 36% on average in the first six months of 2020 compared to the same period in 2019,
according to McAndrew’s report, with 83% of all responding galleries saying their sales had fallen.

With events being canceled or postponed due to Covid 19, many companies and museums are bringing their
physical events online and reviewing digital offers to create virtual show possibilities.

Types of VR ( https://learn.g2.com/virtual-reality )
● Full Immersive Simulation
With a completed head mounted display, headphones, gloves, and maybe a treadmill or some kind of suspension
apparatus, commonly used in gaming and entertainment purposes. Provide a wide view of the field, and will feel
like it is at the place.

● Semi-Immersive Simulation
VR is mainly used for educational and training purposes and the experience is made possible with graphical
computing and large projector systems. Not possible to try it anywhere. For example, like pilots, they use a
physical environment to support virtual reality.

● Non Immersive Stimulation

Forgotten as an actual type of VR, because it is very common in our life, is like everywhere. It is like we interact
with the virtual space in a physical space.

Benefits of Virtual Exhibition

The cost - travel cost accommodation, transport, food and more
Time - travel time, time zone
Environment - no need to have contact with too much people, comfortable in own area
Location - no need to travel to another country just for exhibition
Wont miss out - cant split if have same time exhibition

Any Existing Project

● ArtSteps Exhibition ( https://www.artsteps.com/ )
A web based platform that allows people to create a virtual reality exhibition. Create models or actual
virtual exhibitions by designing realistic 3D environments, 2D artifacts, 3D artifacts and also video.
Mainly on this platform is to create virtual exhibitions, not existing exhibitions.

● British Museum (https://britishmuseum.withgoogle.com/)

Not exactly for exhibition, they use a timeline to show the painting. Scroll to move, and can consider
the interactive part of the page.

Technical Problem
● Use what to create the VR
● website

How it helps during this time

1. Provide a platform for them to have chance to explore exhibition that are in other country
2. Increase the sales opportunity (selling the art pieces that they interested in the exhibition)
3. Student can also put their graduation exhibition, won't because of the pandemic they won't be able to
have the exhibition
4. VR exhibition also need ticket (can have cheaper price, so this can also help them to able to survive)
5. Won’t need to travel to another country if they want to see

Summarize
Due to covid many of the exhibition and art galleries have been closed or cancelled.
This makes the sales in the art sector decrease.
The apps can have VR exhibitions to let the audience visit. They also can buy tickets or pieces of art.
Create more opportunities to help them in this pandemic.
Use web (more cost effective, everyone can access)
Objective
To let ppl still can visit exhibition in this pandemic.

Research Question
How virtual exhibition will benefits in this pandemic?
