A paragraph is a group of sentences telling about a certain topic or idea.

• A good paragraph has three parts. These are the following:


1. The beginning sentence (topic sentence) is usually the first sentence or
topic sentence in a paragraph.
2. The middle sentence (supporting sentences)- they support the information of
the topic sentence. It includes specific details.
3. The ending sentence (conclusion) - tells what the topic sentence is all about. It
gives the summary or generalization of the paragraph.

OF A SIMPLE PARAGRAPH

Read the paragraph carefully and identify the beginning sentence, middle
sentences and the ending sentence. Write your answer below.

COVID-19 is a contagious disease caused by a Coronavirus. Most people with


COVID-19 virus suffer from illness like colds, dry cough, fever, headache and sore throat.
The virus spreads through droplets of saliva or discharge from the nose when an infected
person coughs or sneezes. To avoid getting infected with COVID-19 virus, the best way is to
stay at home and eat nutritious foods.

There are many ways to keep us from being infected with COVID-19 disease.
Regular washing of our hands with water and soap will keep us away from the virus. Using
alcohol or hand sanitizer to clean our hands is also helpful. Another is to avoid touching our
face, nose or mouth with dirty hands. Proper wearing of face mask when going out to public
places is also a must to protect us from the infectious disease. Always bear in mind these
