SUBJECT:

Load test on 3 Bay by 3 Lift of modular scaffolding system submit and installed
by Seng Yew Scaffolding & Engineering Pte Ltd on 29th Nov 2016.

TESTED FOR:

Seng Yew Scaffolding & Engineering Pte Ltd

18 Sungei Kadut Avenue
Singapore 729489

Attn: Ms Eileen Khiew

TEST METHOD:

SS 280 : Part 2 : 2009 Specification for Metal Scaffoldings – Part 2 : Modular Scaffoldings.
Clause 6.1.1 Load test on 3-bay x 3-lift modular scaffolding system (Annex A)

DESCRIPTION OF SAMPLE:

1 system of 3 Bay by 3 Lift of "TSS Ringlock" modular scaffolding system was received.
Refer to appendix for components used.

TEST PROCEDURES:

The modular scaffolding system was erected as shown in Figure 1 by Seng Yew Scaffolding & Engineering
Pte Ltd. Load was applied centrally between two standard members (vertical tubes) of the modular
scaffolding. The load was maintained for 2 hours. The loading (stiffness and strength load) were applied onto
the standard members in two separate tests (stiffness and strength tests respectively).

Deflections on the standard members were measured using linear gauges and at position taken as
shown in Figure 1. Prior to loading, the linear gauges were zeroed. Maximum deflections were taken by
monitoring the deflections throughout the two hours’ period of loading. Residual deflections were taken
at the end of 2 hours upon release of applied load.

DATE OF TEST:

24/08/2016 – 26/08/2016

LA-2007-0380-A LA-2007-0384-G The results reported herein have been performed in accordance with the
LA-2007-0381-F LA-2007-0385-E terms of accreditation under the Singapore Accreditation Council.

1.3 Stiffness Test Load

Stiffness test load = 1354.0 + (1.5 x 712.8) = 2423.2 kg
= 23.8 kN

1.4 Strength Test Load

Strength test load = 2 (1354.0 + 712.8) = 4133.6 kg
= 40.5 kN

1. After removal of the test load, the member or structure shall be deemed to have adequate
stiffness if all measured strain or deflection values show a recovery of at least 80%. If any
measured strain or deflection value does not show a recovery of at least 80% of the respective
maximum value recorded during the two hours under load, the test shall be repeated.
2. Transcript Y is the transverse deflection and Transcript X is the longitudinal deflection.
3. Figure 2 shows the exaggerated deflection of members to show the deflection of movement of
member while under load and after unload.
4. " # " indicates datum shifted to opposite direction.
5. The above test results complied with SS 280 : Part 2 : 2009 (Clause 6.1.1.1) requirement.
