Revision 02 Standardization of bearing sets presentation
The main and big-end bearings of the D628 engines have been modified.
Main bearings
The modification, simultaneously with a change of supplier, comprises the following:
Top shell: Plain bearing Changed to Top shell: Plain bearing
Bottom shell: Plain bearing Bottom shell: Grooved bearing
In case of replacement the new bearing may be installed, only as set. Replacement of an individual
bearing shell is not permissible.
It is permissible to install single sets of main bearings. It is not necessary to exchange all of them on
one engine.

Big-end bearings
Owing to a change of supplier new material numbers have become necessary for big-end bearings.
Simultaneously repair sizes have been introduced.
As before, the big-end bearings are designed as grooved bearings. For replacement purposes it is
necessary to exchange the complete big-end bearing set. Replacement of an individual bearing shell
is not permissible.
