Part-1:
Water is delivered from reservoir R to tank T by a pump that delivers 185 hp to the
system in order to maintain a flow of 8.6 ft3/sec. Determine the pressure at tank T.
For this situation the length (L) and internal diameter (D) are known, as is the rate
of flow. Determine the pressure (P).

Applying Bernoulli Equation:

+ + 𝑍1 = + + 𝑍2 + ℎ𝑓
𝜌 2𝑔 𝜌 2𝑔

Neglecting head losses:

Part-2:
The system in the figure discharges water as a free jet. If the inside diameter of the
pipe is 8 inches, determine the rate of flow leaving the system. In such situations L
and D give the flow rate.

𝑍1 = 100′′ + 70′′ = 170′′ = 4.318

By application of Bernoulli equation

𝑃1 = 𝑃2 = 1 𝑎𝑡𝑚

Part-3:
Oil flows with a rate of 1 ft3 / sec from one tank to the other using designated pipes.
T1 & T2 . Determine the inside diameter.
