PART 1 GENERAL
A. The work of this Section covers sanitary soil, waste and vent piping within buildings
and below finished slab, including floor drains and cleanouts.
B. Piping Components
C. Plumbing Products
A. Furnishing, installation, testing and bringing systems into full satisfactory operational
conditions of the sanitary waste and vent piping.
B. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, tools and equipment required to
make the work complete and ready.
C. The Contractor shall provide all temporary power supply, services, storage tanks, fill
and refill mediums, chemicals, fuels and all whatever other materials required for
testing, commissioning and start ups.
D. This Section shall be read in conjunction with SECTIONS 15051 and 15055.
1.05 REFERENCES
A. The referred codes and standards are intended to provide an acceptable level of
quality for materials, products and workmanship. In case of conflict between these
standards and the text of this Specification, the Specification text shall govern.
B. The latest revision of the referred codes and standards shall be used wherever
applicable. In case of conflict, the Contractor shall propose equipment, materials and
processes conforming to one group of codes and standards.

Pipe and Fittings
1.06 SUBMITTALS
A. The Contractor shall submit to the Royal Commission, under the provisions of
SECTION 01330, the following items for review and approval before commencing
Work:
A. The Contractor shall be responsible for the quality of work and shall develop and
propose programs and methods of construction and testing such as to achieve the
specified quality to the approval of the Royal Commission in accordance with
SECTION 01450.
B. Drainage system shall be left unconcealed and uncovered until it has been
inspected, tested and approved by the Royal Commission.
3. Contractor
B. In the absence of any of the above, best accepted industry practice shall be
employed throughout.
A. The sanitary sewerage system shall provide an adequate circulation of air in all pipes
with no danger of siphonage, aspiration, or forcing of trap seals under conditions of
ordinary use.
B. Sanitary sewerage systems in the desert area shall be so installed, that soil water
containing excreta is kept separate from the other waste water, and therefore a split-
pipe system is necessary.
A. The Contactor shall not install underground piping when bedding is wet.
A. The Contractor shall deliver, handle and store materials in accordance with
SECTIONS 01650 and 01660, as well as the following requirements:

2.01 GENERAL
A. All goods and products covered by these Specifications shall be procured, when
available, from an in-Kingdom manufacturer. Procurement of all goods and products
manufactured out-of-Kingdom must be approved by the Royal Commission.

2) Joints: Hub-and-spigot, CISPI HSN compression type with
ASTM C564 neoprene gaskets.

1) Fittings: ASTM D3840.
2) Joints: Epoxy.
6. Fiberglass Pipe
a) CISPI 301, hubless, service weight, or ASTM A888, coated inside and
out.
1) Fittings: Cast iron.
2) Joints: CISPI 310, neoprene gaskets and stainless steel
clamp and shield assemblies.
3. PVC Pipe
a) ASTM D2729.
1) Fittings: PVC.
2) Joints: Solvent welded, with ASTM D2564 solvent cement.
4. PVC Pipe
a) ASTM D2665.
1) Fittings: PVC.
2) Joints: Solvent welded, with ASTM D2564 solvent cement.

2. Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Plastic pipe may be used for above ground when
piping is enclosed in 1 hour fire rated pipe chase.
3. Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Plastic pipe shall not penetrate fire walls.
1. Each fixture, waste pipe and fitting receiving, or intended to receive, any acid
or corrosive chemical, and each vent pipe connected thereto, shall be
constructed of the following chemical resistant material, unless otherwise
noted. Any non-metal pipe in above ground application, such as in chemical
labs, shall be flame-retardant.

(a) Fittings: Polypropylene.
(b) Joints: Electrical resistance fusion.
2. Notes
b) In remote areas where no sewer or drainage lines are close by, the
waste system shall have primed traps and piped to a dry sump. The
system shall be vented.
A. Cleanouts
1. General
c) Size
1) Cleanouts shall be the same nominal size as the pipes they serve;
except where cleanouts are required in pipes 100 mm and larger,
provide 100 mm cleanouts.
d) Accessibility
1) Cleanouts must be accessible. Adequate clearance for drain
cleaning shall be maintained.
e) Locations
1) Where indicated in the Contract Drawings. Exact locations as per
the approved Shop Drawings.
2) At all horizontal offsets.

a) Wall cleanouts shall be suitable for installation in PVC or other pipe and
shall be supplied with:
1) Ferrule with brass plug.
2) 150 mm diameter secured stainless steel access cover.

A. Floor Drains
1. General
d) Floor drains serving water heater areas shall be of deep seal type.
d) Leveling adjustment.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.01 INSPECTION
3.02 INSTALLATION
A. General
5. Make changes in direction of drainage lines with 45° wyes, long turn wyes or
sweep bends. Use long turn fittings wherever space conditions permit.
6. No 90° bend shall be more than 15.2 m from the cleanout provided for it.
7. Drain piping for condensate waste from air conditioning cooling coils shall be
indirectly connected to a floor drain, or shall be indirectly connected into the
inlet side of a P-trap.
8. All floor drains and cleanouts location shall be installed as shown on the
Contract Drawings and on the approved Shop Drawings.
9. The top of each floor drain shall be leveled flush with finished floor and drain
shall be at the lowest point if floor is sloped to drain.
10. Floor cleanouts shall be adjusted for level flush with finished floor or slabs and
secured.
12. Access covers to wall cleanouts shall be adjusted to fit tightly to finished wall.
B. Vents
1. Trap seals shall be protected from siphonage or back pressure by the use of
vents.
2. All vent and branch vent pipes shall be graded and connected so they drip
back into the sewerage pipe by gravity.
3. Where vent pipes connect to a horizontal sanitary sewerage pipe, the vent
shall be taken off above the center line of the soil pipe or at an angle not more
than 45° from the vertical and the vent pipe shall rise vertically.
4. Vents shall extend (full size) 300 mm above roof and flash with approved
material. Return flashing in to pipe section minimum 50 mm.
6. Vents from chemical and acid waste systems shall not be connected to any
waste venting system, unless otherwise approved.
C. Traps
1. Traps shall be installed in waste system for each floor drain, hub drain, and
basin drain and connected to drains (unless trap is an integrated part of the
plumbing product).
2. Trap Seals used in pressurized buildings shall have a minimum trap seal of
110 mm.
D. Pipe Identification/Labeling
E. Building Sewers
1. The Contractor shall provide new sanitary sewer services (when required).
2. Before commencing work, the Contractor shall check invert elevations required
for sewer connections, confirm inverts and ensure that these can be properly
connected with slope for drainage and cover.
3. The connection of building sewer into the public sewer shall be made at a
provided house or wye connection, or at a manhole. If the public sewer does
not have a house or wye connection available, a pipe section with an integral
wye connection shall be installed in the public sewer at the location specified.
Wye shall be set at an angle of 45° to the vertical. The use of "cut-in" wye
connection is prohibited.
4. Provide waterproofing around all lines penetrating through foundation wall and
floor slabs.
1. Sewers shall not be laid in the same trench with water lines or with electric
conduit, without obtaining a specific approval from Royal Commission, prior to
its use.
2. Parallel building sewer and water service lines shall be located at least 3 m
apart horizontally.
3. Parallel building sewers and water service lines, if necessary, may be laid in a
common trench provided that all of the following requirements are met:
a) The bottom of the water pipes, at all points, shall be at least 300 mm
above the top of the sewer line.
b) The sides of the water pipes, at all points, shall be at least 305 mm clear
horizontally from the side of the sewer line.
c) The water pipes shall be placed on a solid shelf of the common trench,
or the water line shelf be of select backfill compacted to a minimum of
95% density as per ASTM D698.
1. The Contractor shall coordinate waste pipes routes and elevations with other
trades installations.
1. Metallic pipes laid underground shall be coated with 2 coats of epoxy coating
with PVC wrap.
g) Vertical Support
1) Steel riser clamp.
h) Floor Support
1) Cast iron adjustable pipe saddle, lock nut, nipple, floor flange, and
concrete pier or steel support.
3. Provide hangers on the piping at each side and within 150 mm of a no-hub
pipe coupling so that the coupling will not bear any weight.
B. Plugs
1. All open pipe ends or fitting openings shall be plugged or capped immediately
during construction.
C. The Contractor shall clear the interior of the pipe of dirt and other material as the
work progresses.
3.04 TESTING
B. Sanitary Sewer
1. Soil, waste and vent piping shall be tested as follows. Tests to be made prior
to concealing pipe in walls, above ceilings or below grade been backfilled.
f) Test underground piping at minimum 0.04 MPa for 24 hour and prove
tight prior to backfilling trenches.
g) Use stand pipe with a water height of 4 m, for gravity drain and vent
application, as parallel alternative test.
