Scope This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies hose clamps, hereinafter referred to as the "clamps", mainly used to connect the hoses for cooling, suction air, fuel, lubrication and heating systems in automobiles with the joint Fittings or metallic tubes. 2s The clamps are classified into 2 classes as shown in Table 1, according to the construction of clamp screw part. Shape and Dimensions ‘The shape and dimensions of the clamp shall be as given in Attached Table. Surface Treatment ‘The components of clamp shall as a rule, be galvanized to prevent rust. The galvanization shall be MFZn 5 B or MFén 5 C specified in JIS D 0201. However, rings made of galvanized low carbon steel wires are excluded. 6. Operation of Screw ‘The operation of screw shall be smooth when the clamp is tightened. 7, Materials ‘The materials of the clamp shall, as a rule, comply with Table 2. Table 2. Si D 3621-1982 Generally, use metric coarse screw threads specified in JIS B 0205, and the Grade shall be 6 g or Grade 2 specified in JIS B 0209, The shape of head may be selected suitably among from hexa~ gon head bolt (JIS B 1180), slotted head machine screw (JIS B 1101), cross recessed head machine screw (JIS B 1111) etc. In any case the thread part shall be fully threaded and the length of imperfect thread shall be not more than 2 threads from the bottom of head. Gross recess or slot may be made on hexagon head bolt and the shape shall be agreed between the parties concerned. Type Al is flat plate and Type A 2 is squeezed type, and the thread part shall have approx. 3 threads. The clamp plate shall have metric coarse screw thread (JIS B 0205) and the fitting with bolt shall be snooth, This dimension means the value at which uniform clamp on the circumference of metallic rod or tube 1s possible. The tolerance on wire diameter used shall comply with JIS G 3521 or JIS G 3532, If further tightening is necessary due to the wall thick- ness, hardness etc. of hose to be clamped, the value given in parentheses may be used subject to the agreement between the parties concerned. The bridge may be fitted to the clamp if necessary. The nominal size of clamp is based upon the basic size of inner diameter of the ring when opened. Double ring of the clamp shall be nearly concentric. Nominal size given in parentheses should not be used as far as possible,
