OUTCOMES-BASED EDUCATION: IT’S IMPACT ON ME

According to Spady, 1993, Outcomes-based Education (OBE) means focusing and

organizing a school's entire programs and instructional efforts around the clearly
defined outcomes we want all students to demonstrate when they leave school.

I believe that BISCAST was able to direct me toward achieving the set goals.
Looking back to the PLOs, some objectives were already achieved and few are still
in the process of achieving.

These are the objects that I believe I already achieved:

1. To turn out graduates who can undertake purposeful studies and extension
activities to improve quality of life.
2. To apply ethical values and social responsibilities for a harmonious family
living and community life.
3. To be effective agents of change through a systematized knowledge and
critical thinking

Two months after graduation, I was hired in a private TVI (Technical Vocational
Institution) and one of its program is the community-based training in dressmaking
where I was able to teach in an Indigenous community in Baao (aeta tabagnon) for
7 days as well as in Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro. Seven months after, I resigned
from my job and I decided to apply in Deped and Luckily I was hired. Now, I am
already more than a year teaching and honing students in DepEd Naga.

I believe that BISCAST was able to develop our social responsiveness through
extension projects. I still remember when our teacher, Julieta Abay, invited us to be
part of the extension project for livelihood in Sabang, Naga City.

The following objectives are the next goal I need to achieve:

1. To develop competent and dynamic Technology and Livelihood teachers who

can meet the challenges of a globally competitive world;
2. To produce teachers who possess managerial and entrepreneurial skills in
using the technologies and livelihood activities to augment the economic
status

In conclusion, having a set of goals will ensure the right direction for the students
and that is the main goal of Outcomes-based Education.
