f. Lesson Proper

“Our topic for today is about

Percentage, Base and Rate.
Does anyone of you have an
idea about our topic for
today?”
“Yes, sir!”

“Okay _____, tell us

something that you know
about Percentage, Base and
Rate.”

“Sir, in this topic we were going

to encounter sign like this ‘%’”

“Very good ______”

Speaking of signs, we were

going to discuss about the
clue words that will help us to
determine Percentage, Base
and Rate.”

“what do you mean by clue sir?”

Clue that will help us to know

what is the given.

“ow!!!”

So now, what is Percentage,

Base and Rate?

Percentage – is a part of the

base, it is a portion from the
base.

Base – is the whole amount

or the base amount.

Rate – tells the part of

percentage to the base.

“That’s the clue sir?”

No, the clue is not in there

The clues are;

In Percentage we need to
find the word IS, while in
Base we have the word OF
and in rate we have the sign
%.
Ow how do we apply it sir?
Okay now I’m giving some
examples try using the clue
that I gave to you to find the
value of percentage base
and rate.

Ex. No. 1
5 is 5% of 100

Anyone in this class can

identify the given in this
problem. “SIR!!!”

Okay _____

“5 for the percentage

5% for rate
and 100 for base”

Okay another one example

Ex. No. 2

1% of 1200 is 12

“SIR!!!”

Okay _____

“1% for rate

1200 for base
and 12 for percentage”

Now we need to understand,

what if one variable is
missing.
“do you mean sir if one or of the
three given is missing?”

Yes! We can solve it easily

by using the magic square.
“….”

(The teacher posted the magi

square on the board and
explained it in from of the
class)
“Ow, it’s too easy sir, it simply if
the percentage is the missing
one we only need to multiply the
rate and the base, while if the
base is missing we need to
divide the percentage by the
value of the rate, and when the
rate is missing we also need to
divide the percentage by the
value of the base”

Yes! Just like that too easy

huh..  “Yes sir!!”

Very good class!!

now I’ll give you 15 minutes

to study the lesson and
prepare for seatwork.

The students answer the

seatwork carefully and after that
they pass it to the teacher

(After 15 minutes)

Okay prepare ½ cross wise

And answer the seatwork

posted on the board.

B. Analysis

Teacher’s activity Student’s activity

“What is the importance of our “Simply because every day

lesson for today? Anyone who of our life sir we always deal
can explain why we need to with taxes and discounts
study it ?” from all of our good and
transportation sir; for
example, as a student we
need to ride a jeep to arrive
here in school on time. As a
student we have a 20%
discount on our face that’s
why we need to learn about
this topic so we get a right
amount of discount.”

“Very good! Very nice example
