1. Prayer

Good morning everyone Let’s start this

morning with a prayer.

_______, please read the prayer

Angel of God my guardian
dear…………………………..Amen!

2. Greetings

Good morning, class. I am Ms.

Jackie Orphiano your mathematics
teacher for today.
Again, Good morning class! Good morning Ms. Jackie

How was your day so far? It’s fine!

I’m glad that you are doing well

today.
3. Checking of Attendance

Before you sit, I want you to check

your surroundings if it is clean. If (the students will clean their
not, kindly pick up the trash that surroundings)
you will see and throw it in the
trash bin.

You may now take your sit and

let’s read aloud our class rules.

(the students will read simultaneously)

4. Review

Anyone from the class can tell me our

past lesson?
(the students will answer)
Give your insights about our past
lesson.
(the students will answer)
Very Good it seems that you really
understand our past lesson.

Give yourself 3 claps.

Teacher’s Activities Students’ Activities

1. Activity

I have here an activity.

Instruction: Identify the rate, base, and

percentage by completing the table.

But before you proceed I have here an

example for you to easily identify the rate, (the students will listen carefully)
base and percent.

Ex: 6 is 25% of 24

Rate Base Percent

25% 24 6

-The rate is 25% because it has a sign of

percentage “%”.

-The base is 24 because it is formed after

the word “of”.

-The percent is 6 because it is formed

after the word “is”.

Rate Base Percent

Rate Base Percent
1.20% of 15 is 3
1.20% of 15 is 20% 15 3
2.500 is 62.5% 3
of 800 2.500 is 62.5 800 500
3.125% of 60 is 62.5% of 800 %
75 3.125% of 60 125% 75 60
4.30 is 50% of is 75

How to identify the Percentage, the Rate,
and the Base.

Let’s discuss it one by one.

What is Rate?

1. Rate

- Rate is the ratio of a number to 100. It

is expressed in percent. It always has the
“%” sign.

2. Base

- Base represents the whole.

It is the total number from which a

percent is taken. It is always formed after
the word “of”. The symbol for base is “B”

3. Percentage

- Percentage is a part of the number

taken. It is formed after the word “is”. The
symbol for Percentage is “P’.

How can we solve percentage, base, and

rate?

Using Techan’s Triangle help you

remember the 3 formulas.

Percentage is a
part of the base
or the number
taken
from the base. It
is preceded by
the word “is”.
“P” is
stands for
percentage. Rate
is always
expressed in
percent, it has a
% signs. “R”
stands for the
rate, Base
is the total
number from
which a percent
is taken.

the word “of”.
“B” is stands for
the
Base.
