to a prayer.

2. Greetings

Good morning class! Good morning, ma’am!

Is everybody present today? Yes sir, everybody is present today.

B. Priming/Activating Prior Knowledge

1.Drill

Class, find the answer in each letter by

converting percent to fraction.

Who wants to convert A. 6% in fraction?

Yes, Nica. 6/100 ma’am.

Excellent!

Next letter B. 75%, who wants to volunteer?

Yes, Zion? 75/100 ma’am.

Very good!

Let’s proceed to C. 33%.

Yes, Miel? 33/ 100 ma’am.

Amazing!

How about D. 20%? Neri? 20/100 ma’am.

Bravo!

Lastly, E. 15%? Yes, Jayson? 15/100 ma’am.

Next step is, converting decimal to

percent.

[Five pupils volunteered to answer]. [Pupils answered correctly.]

Very good, class!

Give yourself a big tap on your

shoulder and say, I am proud of you self!

2. Review

Class, do you still remember our past lesson

last week? Yes, ma’am!

REPRESENTS THE WHOLE, who am I?

Yes, Stephen? Base ma’am.

You say it right!

Second, I REPRESENT PART OF A WHOLE,

who am I? Yes, Marigold? Percentage ma’am.

Excellent!

Next, I AM THE ELEMENT THAT HAS THE

SYMBOL PERCENT(%), who am I?

Mia? Rate, ma’am.

Great job!

The three elements that we tackled last

week are base, percentage and rate.

C. Lesson Development

1. Motivation

Class, If there will be a quiz after a lesson,

what’s your target score in a 20-item test?

Yes, Riza? I want a perfect 20, ma’am.

Wow! Very good, most of us wanted a

perfect score every time we have a quiz.

And even I, your teacher, wanted you to have

Email Address: 106135@deped.gov.ph
a high score.

But based on Riza’s answer. If you got a

20 raw score in an 20 -item test.

What do you think is the passing grade?

Is it 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100%?

Yes, Rico? It is 100%, ma’am.

How can you say? It is 100% ma’am because

she has no mistake in the
test.

Awesome answer!

Class,do you need to study your lesson

every day? Yes, ma’am!
Then, why? Wane? To pass my test.
Very good! How about you AIlan? I need to study to have a high
grades.
Excellent!
Do you listen well and participate in
class discussion? Yes, ma’am!
Why do you need to listen and participate in the
discussion? Yes, Billy? We need to listen to understand well
the lesson, ma’am.
Very good!
By being studious, and participative to the
class, do you think it will help you for your future? Yes, ma’am.
Why? If we listen well, or study well today,
our dreams is possible to achieve.
2. Presentation of New Topic
Can you see the short problem?
Can you please read it for us, Aeon?
[Allan, a boy from a farming village is a diligent [Aeon will read the entire paragraph.]
and studious pupil. He answer his module ever day
and does his work well. He never skip studying
his lesson every afternoon. When he took their
50-item quarter examination he got 96%
of it correctly? What is his score?]

Thank you, Aeon.

Based on the paragraph read,

Who is the boy from the farming village?
Yes, Billy? Allan is the boy from the farming
village.
How is he as a pupil? A very good pupil. He is very studious.
Did he do well in school? Yes, ma’am.
Will you do the same? Why? Yes, ma’am. I will do the same
because if I study my lesson, I will get
a high grade.
What rating does Allan get in the test? 96% ma’am. Yes, it is a high rating.

Address: PUROK 3, SAN VICENTE, MAGALANG, PAMPANGA

Email Address: 106135@deped.gov.ph
Is this a high rating?

Now, what is asked in the problem? What is Allan’s score?

What are the given facts? 50-item quarter examination, 96%
What strategy can be used to solve the
problem? Let’s go back again to base, rate,
and percentage in order to know what
Formula to use and how to solve.

From base, rate, and percentage. Let us

Identify the two given facts in which they are
belong.

50-quarter examination, is that the base?

Percentage? Or rate? Base, ma’am

Right! 50 is the base, since the base is the whole.

How about the 96%? rate or percentage? Rate, ma’am.

Yes! Rate is 96% since it is the element that
usually have the percent symbol.

Therefore, the unknown is percentage.

And we will look and solve for the percentage.

How to obtain percentage?

Can you please read it? Nick? Percentage is obtained by changing
the percent to decimal or fraction
form before multiplying it with the
given number.
The formula to get the percentage is
P= R X B, wherein B is base, and R is rate.

Awhile ago, we have answered what is asked,

What are the given facts, and we identified the
Unknown number.

Now, by using the formula P=RxB, let us solve

for the percentage.

P= unknown,
B=50-item quarter examination,
R= is 96%
P=RXB
P=96% X 50
But before solving it, we need to convert the rate
from percent to decimal form.

There are two ways in converting a percent to

decimal form :
1. ) Move the decimal point 2 places to the left
and remove the % sign.

2) Divide a percent by 100 and remove the

percent sign.

Let’s convert 96% to decimal form.

Address: PUROK 3, SAN VICENTE, MAGALANG, PAMPANGA

Email Address: 106135@deped.gov.ph
What will we have? 0.96/ ninety-six hundredths

Now we can solve for the percentage,

P= 0.96X50
Use your scratch paper by your side, what will you
have?Yes? 48, ma’am.

Very good!
Therefore the answer is, Allan’s score in the
50-item exam is 48.

Let’s proceed to other problems.

Try to look the chart, some parts are missing.

Prepare your scratch paper and pen.

Who wants to try solving the percentage

of food? Yes, Inah? 1,300

Who wants to try solving the percentage 140

of school supplies? Yes, Hans?

Who wants to try solving the percentage 160

of fare? Yes, Wane?

Who wants to try solving the percentage 400

of savings? Yes, Nick?

Now, let’s get the total ?

65%+7%+8%+20% is equal to? 100%

What is the 100% of 2000? 2,000

Very good, pupils!

2. Generalization
Today, we learned that to obtain the
percentage of a number we must the formula?
Yes, Aeon? P=RxB

Excellent!
But before multiplying the rate and base, we
need convert the percent to decimal form.
What are two ways we can used? There are two ways in converting a percent Yes, Billy?
to decimal form :
1.) Move the decimal point 2 places to the
left and remove the % sign.
