1 Overview
The ZXSDR MM6212 T2300 (V2.0) (hereinafter referred to as the “ZXSDR MM6212
T2300” or “AAU”) is ZTE's split Pre5G BBU-AAU base station product and an AAU
equipment integrated with intermediate frequency, radio frequency, and antenna
functions, and composes an eNodeB together with a BBU.
Comparing with the existing outdoor 8T8R macro, the Massive MIMO (hereinafter
referred to as “MM”) base station can significantly enhance the spectrum efficiency and
the cell throughput, due to taking advantage of the 5G Massive MIMO multi-streams
spatial multiplexing technology. Moreover, MM base station is capable of enhanced 3D
beam forming. Based on these advantages, the ZXSDR MM6212 T2300 can be
deployed in macro coverage, high-capacity dense urban area coverage, and high rise
building coverage scenarios, meeting operators' requirements of wireless broadband,
high spectrum efficiency, and large cell capacity.
With the ZXSDR MM6212 T2300, operators could make use of the available spectrum
and commercial LTE terminals, enabling existing LTE subscribers to enjoy 5G-like
experience with high data rate in advance.

Distributed base stations use the Base Band Unit (BBU) + Active Antenna Unit (AAU)
architecture, see the above figure. The MM6212 T2300 is equipped with internal
antennas to provide the Uu interface for User Equipment (UE).
2 Highlights
The ZXSDR MM6212 T2300 can use ZTE unified Software Defined Radio (SDR)
platform to protect operators’ investment and support smooth evolution.
Distributed BBU-AAU base station architecture, BBU can smooth from 4G to 5G and be
in centralized installation, support C-RAN and D-RAN.
With more antennas, more independent data streams can be transmitted. By using
advanced scheduling technologies, advanced baseband processing algorithms,
3D-MIMO beam forming, and multi-streaming spatial multiplexing key technologies, the
ZXSDR MM6212 T2300 can greatly improve the overall cell capacity comparing with the
traditional 8T8R macro.
ZXSDR MM6212 can maximum support 3*20MHz TD-LTE carriers, which has already
considered the operator ’s requirements on the spectrum efficiency.
The maximum output power is 120W, which can meet the high output power
requirements of three carriers macro site.
The ZXSDR MM6212 T2300 utilizes the compact design that integrates radio frequency
and 64T64R antennas. It is only 870mm * 540mm * 200mm (H ×W ×D) in dimensions
and 50kg in weight. It can be mounted on a pole. The ZXSDR MM6212 T2300 enables
fast installation by using power line and fiber without any cable where can be co-located
with the existing macro site.
The massive antennas of the ZXSDR MM6212 T2300 can improve the output power
efficiency without reducing user experience. The ZXSDR MM6212 T2300 uses various
highly-efficient power amplifier technologies such as Crest Factor Reduction (CFR),
Digital Pre-Distortion (DPD), and Doherty. In addition, the ZXSDR MM6212 T2300 uses
a natural heat dissipation design without noise.
The ZXSDR MM6212 T2300 adopts the 3D-MIMO also named Massive MIMO
technology which integrated 64 antenna arrays. According to different deployment
scenarios, the antennas can be configured with optimized broadcast weights. Massive
MIMO can greatly increase the beam forming gains and system performance, cell
capacity, and hence improve user experience.
The massive antennas of the ZXSDR MM6212 T2300 focus on the transmission and
reception of signal energy into/from ever-smaller regions of space. Therefore, Massive
MIMO base station can get a higher beam forming gain. By utilizing the 3D-MIMO and
multi-streaming spatial multiplexing key technologies, the 3D signals of the ZXSDR
MM6212 T2300 can flexibly trace User Equipment (UE). The 3D MIMO technology can
form highly narrow and precise beam forming which can reduce the inter-cell and
inter-user interference.
The ZXSDR MM6212 T2300 is compatible with R8/R9 terminals, enabling the current 4G
subscribers to enjoy 5G-like high-speed services in advance.
The ZXSDR MM6212 T2300 base station can be deployed in various scenarios such as
macro coverage, high-capacity dense urban coverage, and high rise building coverage,
in which the massive antennas can be configured with different broadcast weights
according to different scenarios.
