Effective communication is dependent on careful consideration of the medium, audience

and message. This campaign will be outlining what will happen on the Family Day in
Ensom City, Spanish Town. The essay will delve into the appropriate language registers,
medium and how understanding the communication process will be of benefit in the
dissemination the information citizens in the community.
Some strategies that will be utilized for reaching the adolescents in the community will be:
instagram flyers which would outline details such as time, venue, hosts of the event and
activities. These flyers will have bold writing and bright catchy colours that will effectively
draw the audience’s attention. The flyers on instagram will be effective as many young
persons use this platform daily and this information is disseminated globally by virtue of
social networking.
Secondly, there will be a dub-plate promotion via a town cry using the Dancehall artiste
Skillibeng who will employ the tagline,“Big up Family Day eno Ezay.” The use of the town
cry will provide a repeated, loud announcement that all citizens will hear. By using an
artiste that many young persons know and love this without a doubt will capture the
attention of the main target audience and their following. Additionally, the use of
advertisements on television would appeal both visually, as the advertisement would
contain bright bold images of the activities that will be carried out. Similarly, television
provides an auditory effect that would entice the audience as they will hear other person
having fun conveying a fun experience to be expected at the Family day. They will also hear
music from the entertainer who will be present and this will be communicated to all
members of the community. In light of this, the formal and informal registers will be
appropriate for the event.
The host will primarily employ the formal register with the guests attending the event as they
are unacquainted. However, the informal register may also be utilized by the host to create an
atmosphere of comfort, familiarity and togetherness. In addition the casual register would be
utilized by Skillibeng as Dancehall music employs Jamaican Creole as wells as these are
members of families and members of the community hence the suitability of the informal register
to promote the Family Day.
In conclusion, the communication process is a complex one and the elements are intricately
linked therefore the Family Fun Day’s successful staging is dependent on the knowledge of
how the communication process works and effectively using it.
